Do you still take it off road? I retired mine to the pavement.
Thanks! I do ride My Procaliber as a daily commuter as well as an occasional trail bike. I just slapped on some new Kendas:

    Nice Bruce.
IMO, GF makes some of the nicest HT's around at any price level.

Here is a Gary Fisher winter project. Joshua F1 that needs a little work and a front fork for sure. I believe it's 1999.

I saw a really clean Joshua on CL.
The guy was asking a reasonable (IMO) $290.
    I suspect it'll go for $250. to $275.

    I love clean older MTB's.
    It was tempting.

I might be interested in the fork in the tora if your selling it. Ive got the same bike as you a 2010 piranha. Id like a back up fork in case something goes bad when I rebuild mine. Pm me with what your asking.

Did you notice any negative handeling when switching to a non g2 fork?

Steering slowed down a bit, but swapped to a shorter stem for comfort and to quicken up the steering again.

I like the 10+ year old bikes myself. This Joshua is in rough shape but thats part of the fun. I'm going to use all the stx-rc that's on it but, I usually end up buying better components. I cleaned the front wheel (mavic 138 w/ parallax hub) today and its in great shape.

This is better than treasure hunting!

Somebody did an awesome job of rebuilding a Sugar here.
I'll see if I can dig up the link for you. It came out really purdy.

    @2ndgen

Thanks for the compliment, yours isn't so bad as well

I have swapped out the grips to some sette lockons, and other than that she's pretty much stock...

I would love to swap out the fork, rear shock, and get hydraulic brakes, but so far she's pretty much handled everything I have thrown at it... Any idea what size disc the stock manitou splice can handle? I don't really want to go 203, but at least 180mm up front...

I just added San Marco ponza power saddle and an early model '00 Sid xc fork. I like the black look!

Original purchase price (with accessories; pump, cage, seat bag,
bar ends, Candy C pedals, shoes, helmet) in great condition: $300.
Cockpit and rolling stock upgrades: $500. (transferable to next bike).
The bike is shining and was all original. It looked hardly used.

    2003 Gary Fisher Sugar 4+

    Upgrades...
    • ODI Rogue Locking Grips
    • Easton EA70 Monkey Bar
    • Thomson Elite 4X Stem
    • Thomson Elite Seat Post
    • Kool Stop Dual Compound Pads
    • Shimano PD-M737 SPD Pedals
    • Kenda Nevegal DTC 2.35 Tires
    • Fresh Tubes

    On the way...
    • WTB Rocket V Pro Saddle
    • Shimano XTR 970 Pedals
    • Syntace Seat Clamp

    Update: Done & done...Rocket V Pro on + I went with a Salsa clamp.
I've decided to ride the PD-M737's until the fail. These SPD's are like The Energizer Bunny!

If anybody's interested, this rig was designed right from the get-go.
With the modern cockpit bits and rubber and with a fresh tune-up
(and considering that it's a low mileage bike in the first place),
this bike is hella' fun! It comes in at just 29.9lbs now.

I'm damn tempted to slap on a set of Mavic Crosstrails on it and drop it down to 28lbs.
