You may be able to find a Reba for under 500, all-travel spacers should let you rock 100 or 120.

My new 2011 Trek Gary Fisher Superfly Elite. I just picked her up today. So far I have just had the time for a quick spin to adjust the seat. This is my 1st Trek/Gary Fisher, 1st 29er, 1st bike with disc brakes, 1st carbon frame bike, and last but not least 1st bike with a 2x10 drive train.

My only complaint is that it does not say "Gary Fisher" on it, except for one little logo.

How does it handle / feel without G2?

I'm thinking about selling my bike, parting it out, or upgrading the fork to a non-G2 2012 Fox FIT RLC w/ Kashima. Or possibly swapping in a 140 Fox RLC that came from my Santa Cruz Blur LT. Did you lose anything when you changed the geometry from the G2?

Hard to say,I bought it as a frame/swingarm/rearshock.The 2009 and up rebas have a 46mm offset versus the 51mm G2.Closest I could get, most others are 38-44mm.The guy that used to have this frame(goes by LCW on here) now has a 29 with a reba team and has stated it's a much nicer fork than the fox that was on this.I also know that is contraversial. But this setup with the newer reba team handles really well.I'm going from a cannondale F600 that I didn't like the handling.Night and day difference.

    2003 Gary Fisher Sugar 4+
Original purchase price (with accessories; pump, cage, seat bag,
bar ends, Candy C pedals, shoes, helmet) in great condition: $300.
Cockpit and rolling stock upgrades: $500. (transferable to next bike).
The bike is shining and was all original. It looked hardly used.

    2003 Gary Fisher Sugar 4+

    Upgrades...
    • ODI Rogue Locking Grips
    • Easton EA70 Monkey Bar
    • Thomson Elite 4X Stem
    • Thomson Elite Seat Post
    • Kool Stop Dual Compound Pads
    • Shimano PD-M737 SPD Pedals
    • Kenda Nevegal DTC 2.35 Tires
    • Fresh Tubes

    On the way...
    • WTB Rocket V Pro Saddle
    • Shimano XTR 970 Pedals
    • Syntace Seat Clamp

    Before...

    Current...

If by some miracle I decided to go full bore with her, I'd finish her up with a SLX groupset,
130mm Fox Fork, Mavic Crosstrail Wheelset and of course, a set of hydraulic disc brakes.
There's no way I'd keep the paint job. I'd go with a nice Matte Black with tasteful gold or silver graphics.

    Enjoy it. It is worthy.

I found the bar to be too flexy for my taste. Tires, brake pads, grips really modernized it.
I basically put on bits I could move to my next bike which'll more likely than not be a custom build.
Took me about an hour to dial it in a bit, but wow! What a difference great components make.
Haven't weighed mine yet, but I'm expecting it to be in at about 30lbs or just under.

    2011 HiFi Pro - My 1st GF

Picked this up earlier in the week. Pic is from it's maiden run - LOVE IT. Will definitely swap out the bars after today and possibly a shorter stem. Happy with everything else.

Shredded the back tire in a rock garden about 1/2 hr after the pic was taken.

Last of the handbuilt US built Gary Fishers, what a shame that this brand no longer exist in any real sense of the word. Built mine up with alfine hub and manitou 100mm fork. Rides like an absolute dream
