Just got this warranty replacement frame from trek to replace my 1997 Klein pulse comp. it is an 2005 ac/dc frame. Absolutely awesome ride. With the carbon rear I feel less fatigue.

Still a few days away from getting it finished, but this is the direction my Fisher has taken:

That's a 42cm road bar (I don't like MTB-style drops), SRAM Apex shifters, 10sp X7 front derailer & X9 rear, X7 42/28 crankset, Cane Creek Crosstop carbon levers, BB7 MTB calipers, with Problem Solvers Travel Agents. I'm happy with the brake feel on the brifters and the 'cross levers: short travel with enough modulation not to lock up.

I still need to replace the 12/27 cassette with an 11/32 or 34 later on, but since I took some of this stuff of my CX bike, it's what I have to work with for now.

The picture was taken during my alpine cross this year from the Tegernsee to the lake garda. Here I am on the 2900 meter-high Eisjöchl, it was a great travel at 380 km and 11,000 hm

    All finished.

Final weight is 22.9lbs, which isn't bad considering road bars and levers weigh quite a bit more than MTB versions.

Once I get to 10 posts I can post pics of my 1996 Gary Fisher Paragon winter renovation project. Decided to get it soda blasted (looks really cool) and will decide on a powder coat.
    Stay tuned.

Bought brand new in 2007. Gary Fisher Tassajara.

Then in 2010, I became active in Mtn biking and just last week, I built her up with the deals I got online and local shops. Here she is at 21.54 lbs, $1350.71 later.

I just realized we're not going to be seeing new Fisher bikes in this thread anymore.

...Fisher "Signature", I guess, but that's as good as it will get.

Wow, love this thread!!! Some great looking GF's in here. I had been thinking of replacing my frame on my old 99 Paragon but i think i'm going to keep it. I'll post pics when I get the new parts installed.

-XTR shadow carbon RD, m952 FD
-XT 2X9 crankset with race face aluminum chainring bolts
    -KMC SL9 Gold chain
-TRP X9 Brakes with titanium everything
-Race-x-lite wheelset with Dura Ace 9SPD cassette
    -epx carbon seat post
    -sette seat clamp
    -selle italia SLR T1 titanium
    -Nobu grips shifters
    -Canecreek cross stop levers
    -sette 90mm stem

Wow, this thread has gone on a long time. I posted way back on the first page with post #9 and the 2008 X-cal, thought I'd do an update.

    That was a great bike.
Gary Fisher Owners - The Official Picture thread-xcal.jpg

but it failed at the seat tube top tube junction and was replaced by a 2008 Paragon:

It too failed at the tt-st junction, and was replaced by a 2009 Paragon:

but then, it was stolen while road tripping in northern Idaho

But, going back in my history, my first Gary Fisher was a 2004 Marlin:

While I still have that frame, the parts have gone on to give new life to other bikes. I also bought my wife a 2004 Wahoo, that eventually went one of my daughters:

About a month ago, I happened upon what must be one of the last "new" Gary Fisher bikes sold, basically a "new old stock" 2010 Rumblefish 2. Just my size! It was while doing a search for other folks that might have the same bike that I stumbled across this thread. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures!

This is a left over 2012 marlin I got for under $500. I went in wanting a cobia or rig and left with this. I've added origin 8 all mountain bars. I've ordered grips, tires, saddle, and I'm shopping for a g2 Reba, Sid, recon air on eBay daily.

This is more GF than Trek. I feel it has the awesome GF design and refined by Trek to make a killer bike. I added a Fox 34mm chassis 110-140mm travel Talus CTD fork, dropper post, flat carbon bar, ergon grips, 2.4 Purgatory front tire, 2.2 Captain rear tire. LOVE IT!!

    A few changes

I had to ditch my SRAM X7 double for an X9 triple to get better gearing (and it's lighter). Running 48/33 up front now, along with a Carbon Cycles rigid fork, so it's more of a gravel bike. I'm looking to upgrade to a much lighter all carbon rigid fork before spring, and mount some CX bike brake calipers so I can get rid of the Travel Agent adapters.

Alpinord...what kind of brakes are you running? It kinda looks like the rear "Noodle" is on the drivers side. Just curious.
Also, who rebuilt your rear shock? I had mine done by Push, but mine is also the Fox. Yours looks like the AD-5 by Cane Creek.

    Looks nice.

    Thanks.

The front is the original Avid Digit3 and the rear replacement is the Digit5. Hmmm....every bike I have has the front noodle on the right and rear is on the left. I rebuilt the Cane Creek shock using a rebuild kit a couple years ago. It's still working OK.

I'm looking into 29ers and have been looking for a Gary Fisher 'lineage' from the Sugars to ???? the Rumblefish??? Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated.

Eerrr...I'm sorry, I meant the drive side (Right) In the pic it looks like the noodle is on the right side.

No real experience with the 29ers...Superfly is what my friend has and loves. I think the Rumblefish looks nice though.

This is the bike that got me into mountain biking. Bought it used around 1999 for $180. GF Aquila, pretty good except for the fork which sucked almost the entire time. Still got me up and down the trails though!

I sold it almost 10 years later and got $150 for it, but almost immediately regretted it. A few months later this nice HKEK popped up on Craigslist for $180. Just like my Aquila but with XT components and unfortunately the same terrible fork. :P

I just had to put a better fork on it. The Tora coil is heavy, but it soaks up the bumps nicely for under $200. Added some wider bars, WTB Moto Race tires, etc to make it trail worthy.

I have that exact same bike, What fork did you end up using on it. And how did it change the handiling? Awsome bikes. I love my hkek, and still ride it everyday. I just can't seem to part with it.

PS. Never mind I just re-read you post and saw were you said what fork it is. I am interested in the travel on the fork though. Thanks

Thanks! It's the Tora TK Coil 100mm. It's a little heavy, being a low end fork but it REALLY improved the ride. The additional travel, plus damping and the ability to lock it out makes it a decent trail fork. I think this model has now been superceded by the "XC32TK" but I don't know if that one has canti bosses.

Cool, I have been kicking around the idea of upgrading the current fork I have on it now. It's a Manitou SX-E. It's been a good fork, but I think it is starting to get a bit tired. I have been thinking of going with one of the XC32TK, or the 28. I know they are the bottom of the line, but they have to be better than the 10 yol. fork I am running now.

It has gone through some changes though over the years. Painted it yellow with team issue stickers

then I stripped it and powder coated it red. This stuff is awsome. Changed the handle bars, stem, seat post and seat. Still running the originale rims, hubs, BB and cranks. They are all still flawless after all these years.

This is how she looks today, I can't tell you how much I love this bike and the way it rides.

    Back riding a Gary Fisher

Well, about a year after breaking my 2006 Cake 3 top tube riding in Atlanta, I am back riding another Cake.

In the interim I was riding a 2004 Trek Fuel 70 frame that I found on Craigslist. I swapped out the my components in a hotel parking lot while in Atlanta on business. Unfortunately I just broke the right Rocker link.

A couple months ago I found a front triangle for a 2004 Cake 3 on Ebay that I decided to buy as insurance. I am a Clyde and stuff has a tendency to break. Trek has been great about frame warranty replacement on the hardtail I purchased new, but will not honor the warranty on bikes I did not buy new so I will keep piecing together franken-bikes until I can justify the purchasing a new FS bike at some point int he future.

She needs a new paint job really bad, but I can't bring my self to strip/blast off Gary's Signature on the downtube...

Yes, finally got a fisher back in the garage. Been riding fisher bikes since '98 until march this year, got a new trek superfly 100.

But over the past weeks finally had the time to rebuild an old Aquila frame. Bought a the frame over the internet and used some parts I had lying around and built a single speed bike.

The only thing left to do is press in the headset, but I had no press this evening.
    Main specs.
GF Aquila 19" frame, CK headset
    Fox F80RLT fork
Wheels built around DT 240 hubs and DT 4.2 rims
Hope Mono Mini brakes, rear brake line could be a bit longer
Shimano XT crank, set up with 34-16

Here is my 03 Paragon I bought her last year on Ebay and I thought I was getting a good deal for $175 but dam I love the bike so much I would have paid allot more for her. All stock drive train and it came with the Hyd magura julie brakes already on her just had to bleed the back one. I changed shock oil and the Seat and Tires because the originals both sucked and where just old. This is my first 29er and now my poor old 01 Giant XTC SE2 don't get to much action these days.

Just put this together for a friend who is looking to getting into biking. Its a 07 GF Wahoo. I picked the bike up complete less wheels and tires for $75 had a set of Mavic X221 from and older bike and some mis match tires Bontrager Jones XR 2.20 in the front and a Continental Mountain King 2.20 in the rear. Still waiting on the 8 speed cassette I ordered a Sram PG-850 and thats it after some adjusting and tuning I am sure. Should have about $100 invested in it when its all said and done so a good deal for my friend I think

    1999 Aquila

Here´s an item I shot at the bay right before christmas:

It´s in the state I bought it except for the stem that was too short for me, but I had adequate replacement. Also have some red Shimano DX brake levers NOS. But I don´t want to change a lot. Maybe triggers and fork. 8-speed triggers becoming hard to find. What´s the first year the Manitou Black was built, anybody?

J79...I have a 98 Aquila that I have rebuilt and upgraded everything except the headset. I see a rear disc on your bike and was wondering how you went about installing that? Is it an adapter or a welded bracket. I was thinking about getting a rear disc mount welded on but didn't know if you or anyone else had any experience with that...

    Thanks!

I fitted an A2Z DM-uni adapter which I got on Ebay, about $40.
The adapter needed minor modification, some trimming to fit the frame nicely. I have been running it on my Aquila for about a year, been using Hope Mono Mini 160mm hydraulic brakes.

So far I haven't had any issues with this set up. The only downside of this setup is that removing the rear wheel is a bit more difficult, it doesn't slide out as you are used to. You have to undo the nut and slide out the axle completely, also reinstalling the wheel takes a bit more care as well when you trie to refit the axle. I converted the wheel to tubeless, so that the chance of running a flat is minimized.
But other than that i can not see any reason why not to convert the bike. The steel frame of the Aquila is very nice, and with a modern setup a great bike!

Ah, I love it...I've been wondering what a fork upgrade would do for the ride. Did you go with the same travel (63mm)? I'm not very versed in rebuilding bikes, just love to ride. I've noticed the original Rock Shox Indy forks that I have tend to "bottom out" when riding hard. I've been advised to look for a fork with the same amount of travel (63mm) as the original build if I'm going to replace.

Awesome looking 98 HooKoo, man! Thanks for sharing!

Some say there are no stupid questions, but I'm about to push the envelope. Does anyone know if the 2009 Piranha can fit a set of 27.5 wheels and tires? I want a 29er, but have a buddy selling me an 09 Piranha and for $400 really thinking about it, just want something a bit bigger than the 26er. Thanks in advanced.
