    cracking frames - date range?

of course, any bike from any manufacturer can develop cracks. are there particular Gary Fisher years or models that seem more susceptible? i'm looking at a 2009 cobia but wondering if i should just move on...

I had a 2009 Mamba and it cracked at the seat post after about 15 months. The guy I ride with had a 2007 X-cal that cracked in the same place.

I'd check with your local Trek shop though to see what their policy is on going through the warranty process on a bike purchased second hand. In my case I was the original owner and it was warrantied no problem. My friend bought his used though and they wouldn't warranty it because he didn't have a purchase receipt.

The 05'-09's have the rep for cracking at the seattube/toptube junction. Even though the 10 is the same design as the 08 and 09, you don't hear about those cracking as much. Maybe Fisher figured it out just in time to be collapsed into Trek.

Officially no warranty on 2nd hand bikes.
I'm looking forward to regretting this.......
