New question here. Big Sur vs Wahoo

This is my first post on this forum so don't beat me up to much

I am on very limited budget but want to get a mt. bike. I have been searching craigslist and these are the two deals in my area that I have come up with. Not sure which is the better way to go.

Instincts tell me newer is better but I am new to buying mt. bikes so not sure if that holds true.

2000 Big Sur - This bike is in excellent condition and the owner purchased it new in 2000. Everything on this bike is stock. Asking price is $150. Not sure whether this is over priced or not.

    VS

2006 Wahoo - This bike is also in excellent condition. It is the model with v-brakes (not disc). The owner purchased this new in 2006 and hasn't ridden it since 2008/9. This bike doesn't even have a scratch on it and has been ridden only on road / in town. It has cane creek bar ends, pump, rear saddle bag (small), cat eye speedometer, and upgraded cranks. I can get this one for $225.

What do you think? Are either of them worth the money or should I keep looking?

    Thanks in advance!

Both look like good deals for the price, assuming everything is in working order. Keep in mind that new tires could cost $100-150 so make sure there is plenty of tread on the bike you choose. Bike technology has improved quite a bit so i would be inclined to spend a little more on something newer.

When i was shopping a few months ago i went with a 2010 Wahoo Disc for $475. I wanted something that was going to last a while and disc brakes were a must. However i dont think you'll find something with disc brakes for under $400.

Thanks for the advise! I went ahead and picked up the 2006 Wahoo. It is in excellent condition with lots of tread left. Thinking I will switch out the stock pedals and leave the rest the way it is.
