    2000 Sugar 3 shock

    Blink suspension design.
Cane Creek has a program where I can get a Cloud Nine for $245.
Fox Float R's are approx. $300.

It sounds like the Cane Creek shock is valved specifically for your bike when you order it... that's a question.

What would you put on an old Sugar?

    BTW,
It's my wifes bike, we bought it new, it has not been beaten, the bike overall is like new condition, so, there are no worries regarding the age of the bike/frame or how it's been treated. I recenty put a SID on it, but, the old AD-5 has top out issues and I can't see spending money on an old shock that has no adjustabilty.

    I have that bike.....

I put the cloud 9 on it using the trade in a few years ago - I have no experience with the other shock you mention. I definitely like my cloud 9.....

You can change a valve inside the ad-5 to change the compression rate (or maybe it was rebound) I believe but I've never tried it since you'd have to order it. I'm still riding my 2001 Sugar 3 and have also looked into the Cloud 9. It would appear to be the way to go but I'm hesitant to get rid of the ad-5 since it has held up so well over the years. I believe you get the same discount no matter which old Cane Creek shock you send in and I don't believe condition matters... perhaps a LBS can help you find a broken one to send in so you can keep the other as a spare.
I am interested to hear more in-depth reviews from those who have tried the Cloud 9 on the Sugar frame so please try to post an update.

Called CaneCreek, they are unable to produce 6.5 x 1.5 Cloud Nine's at this time.
    Will keep you posted.
