09 Marlin Disc Cassette - Help

Hey guys. So it's time for me to finally do some mx on my bike. Runs great, but the shop told me that my chain is done for (something about it's too stretched out) as well as the rear cassette (due to the chain being too stretched)..So, i need a new chain and cassette according to Trek. I don't think I need to do the $100 at the shop plus labor to get it done..Suggestions? Which and where should I start to look for a new cassette..?

Also, anyone upgrade their fork? I have the G2 frame with the horrible Dart 2.. I want larger travel plus more cushion. I'm 6'2 205lbs..I know the bike isn't top notch, but I've already done a bunch of upgrades to it. Suggestions? I don't want top level fox or anything of that nature..

Chain stretch is normal, and means you ride a lot, which is a good thing. When the chain goes, it quickly eats up the cassette. If you let it go long enough, the rings will be bad as well. Lots of deals to be had on the internet if you know what you're looking for. Sram chains and cassettes tend to be cheaper than Shimano. Don't forget you'll need a handful of special tools, and the knowledge of how to use them, to install your new parts.
Worked at Trek/Fisher dealer 2008-2013. Only a little biased.

Yeah I just did some research and I need a bunch of specific tools. It's a simple job, but I don't have those tools and quite honestly I don't intend on buying them. I think I'll just have the shop do it - maybe I'll just order the parts on my own to save money.. Thanks
