    By far my favorite bike

    Latest changes:
Wider Marin XM Riser bars 710mm (up from 660mm flat bar)
    Origin8 Ergonomic Locking grips
    80mm Sette Edge stem
130mm White Bros Fluid 650B fork
    WTB Laserdisc 650B Wheel
    Kenda Nevegal Folding 2.35 x 650B

I tried a couple 29ers and felt awkward riding them.
With the 650B up front, the only real changed I've noticed is how easily the bike rolls over the smaller trail features.
I realize the head tube angle is slightly more slack but the change is imperceptible to me on my usual climbs.
I've only had it out 3 times since these changes, but so far I'm loving it.
BTW, I tried a 2.1 x 650B Nevegal on the rear and the tire just barely rubs the front arch of the rear triangle.
Someone more adventurous than I could get 1/4" clearance with a little milling and reinforcing of the arch and run 650B front and rear.

I recently swapped out my GT Outpost for this Mt Fuji SL frame and immediately lost 2 lbs. This bike rides smooth and craves air.

After riding a 2009 Tahoe SL and liking the 21" geometry, I snagged a 2011 Tahoe frame for less than $100 delivered and built up a new hard tail...

After searching for a new MB after being out of biking for 15 years, I came across the Fuji line and was surprisingly impressed! I was looking for a 29er with mid grade components knowing that I would want to upgrade it myself. Very solid bike for the money!

    Upgrades to date:

    Fox CTD Float Fork
    Shimano XTR RF shifters
    KS drop post
    SDG Bel Air Saddle
    Easton Carbon Fiber Bar
    Shimano XT wheel set
    Shimano clip less

Nice setup... I like the curved top tube on the 2012- just couldn't beat the price for a 2011 "take off" frame.

I find the geometry on the Fuji frame very similar to my large Niner SIR 9 rigid steel single speed. A lot of my riding cronies rave about the wonders of steel frames. I do not notice a huge difference between them and aluminum myself (on both I run high volume low pressure tubeless tires). I even setup my SIR 9 with a suspension fork for a while to get an accurate comparison.

    2012 Fuji Tahoe 29 1.0

    Show us your Fuji-image.jpg
I just got the bike and did two 28 Km rides on it. Just love the thing.
Can not believe how sweet the XT shifters, front and rear derailleurs work. My second bike is a 2013 Trek DS 8.5 which has cheaper components but still a decent bike I bought from a local LBS
On the rail trails I ride the Fuji blows the Trek out of the water and the amazing part is both bikes cost me the same amount of money because I got the Fuji online at a huge discount. I may keep the Trek for pavement riding but just love the Fuji's RockShock Reba RLT fork on the rougher trail sections, I will not be taking the Trek there no more.

    2014 Fuji Nevada 1.7.

Stock except the Shimano pedals I put on there (not shown).

    Show us your Fuji-bike.jpg

I have a lot of fun on it both on the mtb trails and as a commuter bike. I think the only major upgrade I'll make any time soon is to replace the XCT fork with a rigid steel fork. Probably a Surly Krampus fork.

I've never been disappointed by this bike in the last three months.

I'd love to put a carbon fork on it, but the budget calls for something a little less pricey. The Krampus fork still cuts the weight of the current one in half, so I can be happy with that. Niner fork is a bit more attractive, though. It'll be a while, because I'm waiting for this one to break or something.

Yeah, I'll have to search for a dealer near me. None of the two closest to me deal Niner products. Right now, It's looking grim as far as finding anything at a bike shop goes. I can always try the intenet. I know there's at least one surly dealer near me though.

Whatever I do with this bike I'll post a picture up.

Also, 1SPDBING, your bike does look totally rad with that Niner fork on there. Also, how do you feel about the handling with the drop bars on there? I like those a lot.

New set up's great, too. That was my main concern with drop bars on a bike like that (as brought to my attention by the head mechanic at my LBS) but I figured I'd ask since you've had the riding experience. I'm thinking about doing some bar ends, but don't know if that'll fly on these handle bars or not (maybe too wide, I don't know).

Just a general question, is it a totally outrageous thing to do to cut the wide 710mm handle bars down to, say, 650mm? I'd like to do that and get bar ends on.

Hello there. Just picked up my new 2013 Fuji Nevada 1.3 29er. Poor thing sat in my garage for nearly a week until I was finally able to get out on Saturday morning. This is a huge step up from my old Giant Rincon! Love it so far.

    MY FUJI WAS STOLEN!!
If you see it, please contact me asap. Not worth a lot of money, but this is the bike that got me from a 300lb slug to 200 lbs, and has a lot of sentimental value to me.

It's a real bummer your bike got stolen, man.

That said, I think Fuji should start making all entry level bikes with rigid forks (probably steel). It's a lot more predictable than the old coil spring dealy that came with the bike.

That and the wheels it came with... Other than that I can't complain about this bike. Since both have been replaced I'll just stop now.

First post, first 29er, first FUJI

I purchased a FUJI Tahoe 29er frame on eBay for $150 with the intention of building my first 29" bike and this is where I'm at. Currently I am awaiting a status update (for three weeks now) from my lbs regarding a Chris King headset. I already have forks, a stem and bars to be mounted. I can hardly stand the wait! Is that normal? Wheels are next. Thanks for sharing.
