Who's tigging frames and NOT using 880-T (or other stainless)

I know all the reasons to use 880-T, and it is an amazing filler rod. I've been using it for 3 years now on frames, and I keep ordering 10 pound tubes of .045". I am starting to consider going back to er70s-2 or possibly s-6 for some of straight gauge/heavy walled frames that I build. I don't see a need for a filler rod that costs 10x the cost on .049+ wall tubing, and the extra shielding that I feel it requires.

So basically what are you using? What size, brand, etc?

I'm using 880-T when I use very thin wall tubes or when I have to joint stainless to steel. Otherwise I still use ER70S-2 in 0.035 or 0.045. I guess because I still have tons of it and it works.

I've been using whatever my LWS carries. It is Harris brand ER70S2 .0625. I think that is the thinnest they stock. I see Harris offers .035 and .045, and I might like to go with that size to make my welds a little less... gloppy. I think choosing the right size rod is overlooked, or at least it has been by me.

The other side of that coin is that I have been pounding the ever loving crap out of my Fatties - much harder than my FS bikes - and nothing has broken... yet. Pretty good so far for a lousy TIG'er

1/16 filler is pushing it. I use it on trials forks sometimes, but I use .045 99.9% of the time.
