    Vent holes

    Well guys its been along time but I'm firing up the Tig welder again. Basically forgot what little I did know, so I may be asking a lot of basic or stupid questions on here.
    Trying to figure out/remember if there is a general rule of thumb for vent holes in relationship to the size of the tubes used.
    For some reason #19 sized hole for the main tubes sticks out, but my brain isn't fully functoning
    Thanks!

    Sarcasm...

    As long as the gases vent the size doesn't matter, as far as welding goes. If you want to get some sort of rust prohibiter in there, or some air flow for drying, that's a different story. I wouldn't go too much more than half the tube ID on the smaller stuff, and any bigger than that same size for the rest. That's about .465 assuming .75 tubes. I probably just grabbed a 3/8.

    Based on my gut, and not much else. Never really thought much about it.

    Hey;

    That's just me. I don't know what pros do.

    Don't worry about the dig. I ask questions all the time that never get answered. Maybe they are too technical? Maybe no one knows? I do know they are well considered and presented, and that I have already thought about them and looked for answers prior to asking. Still, they get ignored. I get annoyed with it, especially when I see incredibly simple or dumb questions answered for others. I'm not necessarily talking about here, by the way.
