    New question here. Powder Coat Thinning on Edges

    Do any of you powder coaters have advice for avoiding thinning out on edges? The coater I'm using now gives the frame a phosphorus bath and then a single coat of powder from Prismatic.

    Simple Physics;

    The only thing you can do to get full coverage of liquid on edges is not to have them. The greater the radius, the greater the coverage. I don't know if it would be at all feasible, but you'd have to spot & bake your sharp spots before doing the whole frame again afterwards, effectively coating them twice.

    Sharp crisp edges look really nice, but are not very practical for a number of reasons.

    this happened to my first frames with a powdercoater that uses the same process, different powder though. He said it's just as TM says, no way to get around it. So i now try to smooth/round the sharpest edges with emery cloth as much as possible before taking it in to powder.
