Differences in continental oval fork blades

    Hi all,

I'm designing a fork crown to be CNCd from plate, and wanted to use standard continental oval fork blades.

I have two sets of blades in my possession. The True Temper blades are round like a track, with flat sides. The ones from Nova are more like a stretched circle, slightly longer and thinner and with a more continuous curve.

Not having used many pre-made fork crowns, I have no idea what to do here. Which one is more typical?

Of course the builder has to massage the fork crown a bit to get a good fit, but I'd like to get it in the ballpark.

Jim, I have only known about the Nova (European Style) Blade which are manufactured by Reynolds and Columbus as well as Tange.
If you intend to make a 1-off double plated crown fork, this is a good time to use up the TT blades, but if you are setting up for future repeat use, I would go the Euro style as it is the more commonly available to the hobby builder. Most road bike crowns are Euro from all the specs that I have seen.
Either would make a good fork though.

If I don't make an attempt, how will I know if it will work?
