Carbon fiber compound for seatpost,is it always ok ?

Let me see if I've got this right or not :

Carbon fiber seatpost + carbon fiber frame : it's ok to use the compound

AL seatpost + carbon fiber frame : it's not ok to use the compound or if you do so it won't make any difference.

Wich one is wrong or right ?

Carbon grip is pretty inert stuff.

It's just a (usually) water based gel with plastic grit in it, aside from Ti parts (use ti prep) there aren't really any combinations where you aren't safe to use it. It's a good cure for a slipping seat post, much better than just cranking down on the clamp!

The only thing to watch with it is that the grit will damage the cosmetic finish of the post/bars/stem clamp, you can tell where it's been used by the tiny scratches all over the clamping area. Other than that, safe stuff.
