I had a crack welded where the top tube meets the seat post. It is a Jekyll with 6061 T6 tubing. Gussets were added for additional strength. 4043 filler was used. Now I need to heat treat the frame. I was thinking that 4 hours at 175 Celsius should do it.
Anything else I should do? I have read a good deal of studies which relate heat treating to Brinnel Hardness and strength. If I go too hot I could weaken the rest of the frame by over aging. The 175 Celsius exhibited good strength by 4 hours with minimal gain beyond that and minimal loss of strength up to 10 hours. Am I on the right path here?
