    Green with envy...

2011 Foes Hydro with a very cool color. On the front end a Marzocchi sportin' Ti-Nitrate coating. I suspect that these coatings will become all the rage in the coming year or two...just my guess.

You know that gold coating you see on drill bits, same stuff, just in different colors. And since us MTBrs have to have everything be blingy and match I suspect there's quite a market for it.

Exactly what it is and how they do it, you'll need to ask someone who works with it and can explain further.

It's titanium nitride (not nitrate) and it's applied by PVD...basically it's evaporated onto the surface of the part. The traditional reason it wasn't applied to Al parts is that the process temperature would ruin the aluminum heat treatment...not sure how they got around that. Maybe there's a special (lower temp) process. The other issue is that it's only ~3 microns thick and usually needs a hard substrate (e.g. tool steel) to support it. Maybe they're putting it on top of hard coat anodize...

    whatever...
