    Swimming

Who all swims to stay in shape? Has to help with riding right?

I was fitness-swimming 10 years before I started mountain biking. Still swim when I can't bike.

I like the low impact aspect of swimming. Worked up to about a mile so far

I've swum for fitness all of my life. Thirty years ago, we put in a 12' x 50' pool mostly for lap swimming and we swim from April to October (with a bubble pack cover). This year, I hurt one shoulder pruning then hurt it worse when I washed out the front wheel in mud. Then, the other shoulder got PO'ed for some unknown reason so I haven't been actively swimming beyond breast stroke this summer. However, the riding is still OK.

I saw an interview with Richie Porte, I believe it was GCN on YouTube and he was talking about how he swims to cross train. Seems to work for him!
