    Felt Nine Elite

    Hi,

I got a 2008 Felt Nine Elite frame. I'm trying to install a Cane Creek IS 8 Integrated Headset. I read that it supposed to be drop in, but it doesn't go in.

Someone posted a spec of this bike and it said:
"HEADSET Integrated 1-1/8" Aheadset--Cane Creek Type 45 Degree Sealed Cartridge Bearing, w/Custom Felt Spacer Kit"

What is the Custom Felt Spacer Kit and what's it look like?

Do I need to press it?

    Thanks

I'd bet they referred to regular headset spacers like these http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...t+Spacers.aspx

They are probably "custom" because they have Felt silk screened on them.

Just had a headset replaced on my Wife's Elite. I'm pretty sure they used just the bearings from a Cane Creek S-6. I watched them and they just fit into place. No press was needed.

    Thanks for the reply.

The head-tube is less than 1mm smaller than bearings.

I just talked the bike shop where I got the frame from and he said I have to use a special headset. I got a Cane Creek IS 8 Integrated Headset. Does anyone know that that doesn't work on this frame?

    Thanks

MTBR.com home page has a link to the Cane Creek Fitment Chart. It was posted Feb. 3 could be your answer.

    yap, i figured it out.
A store sent me a wrong one. I ordered a Cane Creek IS 8, but I received a Cane Creek IS 8-I which is for an Italian bike and it is 42mm instead of 41mm.

Thanks all for your support. I cannot wait to build my Felt nine up and ride it.
