    Felt Nine 3

I'm very close to buying a 2016 Felt Nine 3 from my local shop. This will be my first 29er and first carbon frame bike. They're willing to put carbon bars and seatpost on for me if I buy, and set the tires up tubeless. Any recommendations or feelings on this bike either way? It seems to have good components and such for the price. I mostly ride local trails in western lower Michigan.

    Thanks.

Update.. bought it shortly after posting the message above, and I love it! The shop also upgraded the derailleur to XTR for me (got lucky they were out of XT). Looking to shave a bit of weight now, seems wheelset is the low hanging fruit with it being rotating weight but its costly. any other recommendations?

Just brought that same bike home two days ago although mine is a 2017. How are you liking yours? Any issues with it? The first thing I did was put on some Stans Crest wheels and that made a huge difference. Some of the oem parts look pretty low end so eventually the bar, seatpost, seat, and stem will be swapped out.

I'm still loving it. Feels like a long of bang for the buck. I put Niner carbon bars on and a Next carbon seat post. Still haven't done the wheels. what'd you like about the Crest?

The Crest wheels are not crazy expensive at 500ish dollars but they are significantly lighter than the oem garbage Alex wheelset. It's still a lot of additional money to dump into a new bike but it really made mine feel night and day better. Snappy feel when accelerating despite that dinner plate sized 42 cassette. Shame they can't spec a slightly better oem wheelset than the Alex on mine. The rear wheel actually had internal bearing slop and you could hear it rattle in the dropout a little bit.
