my 26" ellsworth truth snapped- out of warranty and i replaced it with a different complete bike, but now have a bucket of parts. mostly xt/xtr from 2003 or so. all works well. had been figuring I'd build up another 26" bike to have as a spare or for when friends come to town but thinking also about a fat bike. so, i'd need frame/fork/wheels... what else? different drive train?

Well;

Tires/tubes of course, and possibly some different caliper adapter brackets... depending. Don't know if the On One deal is still available, but that would seem a natural. If you run a FD, you will have to deal with how it is bracketed to the ST. Problem Solvers and a DM/FD to the rescue there. Fiddling with BB spacers and rear cassette to get chain line.

Also, some cheek exercises as training, to compensate for all the grinning you will be doing if you build one!
