    WENT FOR A RIDE....~700 Km's OVER 19 DAYS.....

    Hi All,

    Just finished a ride.

Did it on the Moonlander towing a modded BOB Ibex that has a BFL on it.

Took some vid and pics, can't load the pics for love or money, may be due to them being HDR but not sure, but as a teaser, here's an uncut vid of rounding a headland on the south west coast of West OZ.

    Enjoy.

That looks great. I guess your panniers are waterproof. Did you pull regrease the bearings after the ride?

    Tim,

Panniers are waterproof and everything was in dry bags inside them as well. When the water got really deep, the whole rig, including the trailer, floated because of trapped air.

I've only just got home and still have to grease everything. I know the rear cluster is shot through a combanation of salt water, sand and no maintenance. I normally use a Rohloff, so don't have to worry about immersion, but didn't have time to have it laced in for this ride.

    Velo,

    Maybe.....

What it did show me was that the beach can be as dull as dishwater when all it is is beach stretching for as far as the eye can see. There were no islands, bugga all people, bugga all bird life and a lot of the beach was featureless. Some of the beach was steep with a soft section above the high tide mark which was tiring work at high tide, some of the tide windows were very short, only 3 to 4 hours, combined with temps between 38 to 44 degrees c and no shade made for hot hard work. I'm seriously thinking of axing a lot, not all, of the beach sections of the 'Big One'
