Ultra ever dry - have you seen this? Would be great on bikes
Imagine this in the BB/fork crown area and the cassettes! Down tubes, anywhere that your bike collects stuff. Expensive, something like 150 per quart for the base and the finish but it would make your bike downright slippery.
Wow, that's interesting stuff. I'd be curious to know how long it lasts on metal. With the mud season we get around here I'd love to never have to wash my bike!
The MSDS sheets tell me, you'll not catch me using that stuff on anything ... I'm sure it's a good product for a controlled manufacturing environment, but it's nothing I'd mess with, even if it was free.
IMO the negatives outweigh the positives, for DIY stuff.

No Thanks !!!
And it's not a permanent coating !!
It's how you ride not what you ride that makes a difference. Flat-spot
I saw this a few days ago, way cool stuff, but I sense a potential next Thalidomide in the offing.
What folks seem to forget about Nano Technology is it's active essence. Particles are so small, they are able to seamlessly penetrate cell walls without mechanical intervention. Cool for science, industry, medicine etc, but for the consumer market? We need to be soooo careful.
Why? because it means that your Nano fabric softener, skin cream, car wax, whatever can not only get on or just into your skin, but through it without even breaking a sweat. Once inside, it has free run of blood cells, internal organs, brain, heart, etc.
Some stuff is just not as cool as it's marketing team wants you to believe. Ask all those kids with flippers for hands and feet.
10 or 20 years from now, who knows what havoc Nano Tech may or may not, have wrought.
Sorry, not my normal job to be a wet blanket!
This is a Pugs not some carbon wannabee pretzel wagon!!

Good points! Now how does one protect themselves from its penetration into the body? If it can travel anywhere, does that mean that it will at some point get flushed out? But what damage can be done in the meantime?

I wish I had answers. I don't. Classic case of I know what I know, and that's it.
Research. Be informed with regards to usage.
Me, I avoid stuff that is sold as "Nano Tech" simply because I still have the option. Unless it's like, a carbon handlebar or some such solid, inanimate object.
Stuff that coats, soaks into, or otherwise interacts right next to my skin? I simply avoid.
Just me, maybe I'm nuts. 20 years from now when all is well, I'm happy to revisit my paranoia

Yeah; did a lookup on Wiki as to the impact...it's a big unknown for the 'free' type, the stuff that can be absorbed, as in creams, liquids etc.
Believe you have the right approach...avoid the stuff if in doubt.
Personally I have never considered the downsides...but I have you to thank for the heads-up I suspect the same is true for others. Good Man!
Popular Science has had 2 articles recently about similar products. They were writing that it is used to waterproof the internals of cell phones. Applied within a vacuum where it penetrates the joints of your phone case and bonds to the electronics.
Here is one company. https://www.liquipel.com/ Ship your phone to them, they apply it and ship it back.
Best use would be to apply it to toilets at the manufacturing level and then never having to clean them!
You're missing the even bigger picture- with that coating, you could redesign toilets to use almost no water. Think of the ecological benefits, assuming the stuff is actually safe and won't turn us all into zombies...

American Standard Toilets did that already. Was pretty cool. That thing will flush almost anything.
The glass framed in this stuff in that video made me gasp. I wonder if it would be better than Rain-X for automobile windshields/helmet faceshields to negate the need for wipers.
Also Sierra Designs is using this technology on down feathers to insulate some of their high end winter coats. The down traps next to no water and retains its insulating properties after the process.
I dont think you would want it on a chain or any other moving parts because oil wouldnt stick. Bare metal to metal would not be good.
I dont care if my bike gets muddy or if there are spots on my apples.
