Surly Front Rack...show me your 6er!!

I just got this in, will be spending 2 hours trying to attach it today.

I'm looking for ways to pack a 6er on it. I want to use some sort of cooler, a small one at that but I dont like the idea of strapping a red igloo cooler to it with a few bungy cords, that idea just dosn't sound to cool. I guess I could always spraypaint the cooler.

Anyway, what have you done? How are you packing/hauling your beer either on the front or back of your bike? Got pics?

I found a few threads on this...the more and more I look at it the more and more I think I should slap this on the back. I have no desire at all to use panner bags but it would look as if it's gonna be a pain in the a$$ to put on the front.

Still wanting some pics of your "racks" hauling some brew.

Order a 6er of Surly Junk Straps. You can carry anything with a few of those on hand!

    Legend? 6 Can - Black

2 u-bolts with wing nuts should secure it to your rack nicely if you didn't mind drilling a couple holes in your new cooler.

So last night I was ready to attach this bad boy....I got out all the tools it said I would need and a cold beer.

I sat there for about 10 minutes looking at the pictures on the instructions....looking at my bike...look at sheet...look at bike. This is no 15 min install afterall. I think I'll be dropping it off at my bikeshop.

Read all of the instructions before assembling and installing your rack

[SIZE=1][SIZE=1]. If you are unsure of your ability to install your rack correctly, take it to yourlocal bike shop mechanic for installation. Failure to install your Surly Rack correctly could result in your injury or death. Of course, you could botchthe installation, get lucky, and simply experience a series of frustrating complications and delays leading to a less-than-enjoyable ride. When in doubt,
    take it to the shop.

The front of the Pugsley is 135mm spacing so my Pugsleys and the others I've seen racked use a rear rack on both ends.

The photo you show at the top of this thread is a front rack.

I've never tried to put a Surly Nice rack on a Pugsley so that might work, but it could also be why you are having issues with the install.
    Safe riding,

I have seen a couple of Surly Front Nice racks installed on Pugsley's but have no idea what the installation required to do so. As vikb suggests the Rear racks work both front/rear real well if you should decide to do something alternatively. I have one on the front of my Moonlander works well!

Here is video of a Battleship Gray Pugs (which I believe belongs to PigeonFarmBoy) with a Nice Front rack installed:

I'm at work right now but I'm almost certain this rack won't work on my Pug Ops, if I recall last night, it won't "wrap" around the fork like it does in the picture or in the link you posted. I should have done better research, oh well.

If you have the Pug Ops then it has the ML fork- not the same as the plain ole pug fork.
