    Salsa Carbon (and FS!)

Better to have and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Going to be interesting to watch this one. The rumours were that it was to have a 190mm rear? Not sure that I will order one if I can't run 82mm rims and large tires. Don't mind the marge rims for summer running but need the larger combo for the winter.

"A company spokesperson confirmed that Salsa is moving forward with its full-suspension fat bike project. Yes, you read that correctly. Salsa teased the behemoth on its blog early last year, and feedback was overwhelming but the project appeared to come to a standstill."

I like the hint in the next paragraph that Rockshox may be developing a fat fork.

I think I'm most excited about the XX1 and through-axle. I agree with the article that those are two things Fat Bikes need.

well now I know what I am saving my pennies for! I love the idea of thru-axles. The fact that it weighs so much less than my muk really has my interest peaked.

If it goes like many things seem to go, it will be late 2014/early 2015 before it hits the market, the production run will be very small, and the price will be out of most peoples comfort zone.

But it's nice to see the Rockshox speculation, and that IMO will probably make it to market before the Salsa frame does.

Thankfully, it will not go as "many things seem to go".

Production is in process now, delivery will be October to dealers, and the MSRP is still $3500 for the X9 and $5500 for the XX1.

Sorry for the confusion ... I was referring to the FS carbon bike that was referenced in the article.

The carbon frame is what you're referring to ... Yes ?

If not, and you're talking about a FS carbon bike from Salsa ... Glad to here this won't be like "many things seem to go"

Often times, something is announced (by numerous companies, in numerous industries), then delayed, then delayed again, and ... Well some things never make it to market.

Nobody that works for Salsa has said "carbon" and "full suspension" and "fatbike" together.

On that note though, the full suspension fatty will be ready and brought to market concurrently with whatever suspension fork comes to market. *hint*

Can you tell us if both build kits will hit the dealers around the same time? I'd love the XX1 but will likely need to "settle" for the X9 build. Can't friggin' wait!
