    Pool Noodles

I saw a post a while back about using pool noodles inside your tire and between a regular 26 inch tube and your tire.

just wondering if anyone is still doing it and if its working well

Pool noodles are meant for swimming. You are drunk, go back to bed.

I got curious about this after you posted and did some research. It appears that the foam of the pool noodles is not dense enough and it compresses down to about 1/8" or so after it is used for a little while, negating any real protection you were hoping to achieve.

This, I tested and posted some pics, it was a pointless exercise

Just bite the bullet and go tubeless. Have something handy to punch though if you do the gorilla tape method... it is very rewarding when you get it right... tubless fatty's are awesome... but it can be VERY frustrating while you are setting it up. For Clown Shoes + me at least

I prefer egg noodles. In case I break down far from home and get hungry.

Yes, egg noodles would at least offer an alternative use and one might try a little red sauce instead of Stans in order to have a complete meal.

The mere fact that this was even an idea at one point is why I love the Fatbike forum so much compared to most other forums on MTBR

After being tubeless for over 10 years (mountain, cross, and road bikes) the first thing I did when I got my Beargrease last November was to go tubeless (ghetto, split tube, foam strip, Husker Dus). I've had no problems with beading or sealing however running sub 10 PSI I sometimes feel rim smacks on sharp edgeded rocks. This pool noodle thing intrigues me! With little weight penalty I could have some rim protection.

Urgent help! Flat tyre solutions Pool tubes are great for packing a bike frame for shipping or padding that top tube you keep landing on, but can't last under all your weight on the few square inches of the contact patch of the tire.
