I've really enjoyed looking through these photos and reading your stories. It's amazing how such a simple idea can ripple around the world and unite folk with a common interest. Thank you all for contributing to what has been a great event. I'm going to organise some GFBD commemorative stickers this week. I'd like to send each and every one of you a sticker. I'll let you know when they are ready and I'll start sending some out.

    Thanks again guys and gals

Wow! I'm really impressed with all of the pictures in this thread. You all did a great job documenting your GFBD rides. I, on the other hand, forgot about the whole thing. I did get out on a short ride on the pugs though. My son and I took a trip around the block. He on his scooter and me on the Pugs. What a great thread. I'm on it next year for sure. I think I've almost got a buddy convinced he needs a fatty.

Me on my Pugs and a couple of skinny bike riding buddies went out for a good 10 miles of half-frozen single track here in Clinton, NY to celebrate GFD.

Pictures on the Pontiac Trail. I loaded up my Pugs with everything I had for the full fat-bike experience.

Awesome pics, folks! I had a great 20 mile solo night ride last night on my fat front! I'm still searching for the limits of this huge front tire!

Super warm weather here too! first ride without arm or leg warmers in over a month!

didn't see any postings for rides in my area, so I went for my own blast. Here's the obligatory picture of "bike leaning against ______". The rear endomorphs were struggling to hook up with the light snow cover on the trails. Still had a blast, can't get over how much fun the bike is to ride. Looking forward to riding some snowpack this winter, if we get any.

Custom Bicycle Bags from Porcelain Rocket

Scott Felter is the designer/owner of custom made 'bike packing' bags. The material he is using for mine is lighter, stronger tensile strength for a build of 4 bags I had him do for my new BG. I am awaiting my frame bag and the smaller top tube bag once he gets set up again as he is moving with his wife to Calgary from Victoria, BC. Can not say enuf about his builds!

+1 on what Elderberry said, we're buds. It was a joke. I blame it on him listening to way too much heavy metal.

FTMN i tried to post a comment on your blog post but after 8 goes at the anti spam thing where you type in letters and numbers each time they never accepted them even though it was clear to read i gave up

I follow a lot of blogs and a few i have had this happen. Anyway a nice post and your film i think had the biggest turn out for GFBD

    OK...

    Just a simple caning then?

I sure wish there was a group around here. I only know for sure of 2 other Fatbikes in this entire area of 200,000+ people, and I've only heard tell of one of them. And yet, I guess my ride group just grew by a few 100 people... just with a little space in between us!

So, I participated here in southwest Alaska with a 12 mile or so circuit from my house. I stopped to take a picture to post, and while setting the shot up with the timer feature my camera died a sudden death. Now it will not power up. Oh well, it is outdated anyway and now I have the excuse I need to buy a new one...

This picture is from a few weeks ago, but I was at the same place with the same bike and the same dog. The only real difference is a light layer of snow is on the ground now. I hope no one minds my using the used pic...

    Happy fatterday!

Had to wait till today to post. Millie Dog and I celebrated Fatterday with our usual 2 hr.dog loop on the trails of Smuggler/Hunter Creek near Aspen Co. Not much snow, but we had a lot of fun. We started ridding at about 2:30 pm with warm temps. and lots of sunshine!

my own humble contribution to Global FATbike day.

a brief ride down Glenrock in Newcastle Australia, with a short beach ride out.

I can't begin to waffle on and on about how much of a difference the Lefty makes. Many thanks must go to Mendoncyclesmith for his valuable advice and custom clamps and RLC Sport for the fork tuning and hub.

thank heavans when I got a puncture I'd:

    a) remembered to pack a spare tube

    b) chucked the HPX frame pump on the bike.

Our little day late and a dollar short Chicagoland ride on the Palos trail system. They made us take a mugshot before we took off. We may have a few other action shots floating around that will trickle in. A few flats and a broken chain splitting up the groups a bit but it was a glorious shake down run for my day old Pugs. (The only purty yellow one in this shot)

    GFB Day in Burlington, VT

Here are some pictures of our ride yesterday along the Winooski River in B-Town. The snow and cold weather made for a great ride, "down by the river side".

ddbros, that's at least in the running for the best pic and story on this thread. It was already good, but blood on the new bike takes it to an elite level.

wadester, those are some bad mofu pants.

What I really wanted to say though, is that this whole thing got kicked off with one simple post , here, and subsequently went fatbike viral. saltyman and Dr S and whoever else was behind the scenes cooking this thing up and then executing the plan . . . you guys rocked it!!!

It's been one helluva lotta fun riding and then swapping pics and stories. Thanks to you fine gentlemen in the UK for getting this freight train moving that we were apparently all just dying to jump aboard!

Chalk this up to the aftermath. On the day after Global Fat Bike Day I did a cyclocross race with my moonlander. We had 19 riders in the Fat bIke class and it was the hit of the day.

Hey guys, YOU all rocked it!

An idea is just that, a seed. Every single person who took part in this goofball idea are the real superstars here. However, I'd like to give the biggest credit to the guys over at UKFat who took the ball and ran with it. Also huge thanks to Gomez and Fat-Bike.com for getting the publicity going, to all the bloggers, tweeters out there who spread the love, to the guys and gals that started the Facebook pages and organised the rides.

Thank you each and everyone of you. I'm still smiling like a fool.

    Same again next year!

Global Fatbike Day - Nome AK

Missed the new thread. Posted in the old one and wondering where were all the pics from GFD? No epic ride for me, but I got out all the same. Up before the crack of noon in time catch the sunrise as solstice approaches near the Arctic Circle. The first pic was taken at Banner Ridge, just west of the site of the Nome gold strike in 1898. The other is of a 1930's era bucketline dredge that mined the consolidated claims of the Alaska Gold Co.

Some great pics here from the usual suspects and a lot of other folks. Quite a community we've got here! Great idea, Salty.

Photos from Atlantic Canada, more specifically Waterside Beach near Fundy National park. Super fresh day of -12c w westerly onshore winds. Made the barefoot creek crossing a bit more vivid :-)

That would be great - but would require admitting that fatbikes are not just for snow

And probably another "evocative" name - or at least something to tell them apart, like "Sun&Sand Fatterday". Or howzabout "FatterSunDay"?

Ha! Indeed! No "northern hemisphere" prejudice, really. I live in the southwestern desert of the USA, where snow is an occasional treat and sun/sand/gravel is normal fare. I was just showing my personal jealousy of the folk who do have snow.

And moreso, the only thing we've got right now is Fatterday is the first saturday of...... December. But we could celebrate Fatterday on any saturday of the year. I personally celebrate this holiday often, nearly every saturday! But perhaps that would dilute things a bit if done "officially".

So December was declared by the northern hemisphere snow folk, but enjoyed by all!
Do the southern hemisphere bloc want a June Fatterday to coincide with their snow? I will celebrate it on my landscape of sand/gravel/cactus with you!
