Jay working on the Grape Ape. Many parts out of stock so it's been going a little slow. Weather in Chicago should be 50 this weekend so we are hoping to be ready.
Picked up the Grape Ape today. We played with the seat and fork length before finally cutting the steerer. Final weight with pedals was 33.5 lbs. Rode it home and looking forward to riding again tomorrow.
I just got the PDW daves mud shovel too. Try sliding the front so it is to the BB area and see how you like it. I've found it keeps more gunk out of the BB area when you have it lower.
Rode today in light rain and about 38F. My gear worked OK, shoes are not waterproof but with wool socks never felt wet. Fenders worked good. Bar Mitts worked well with the Jones bar, wore summer dirt bike gloves with no problem.
Thanks Turtle01, fixed the seat bag, funny how I never noticed and always wondered why I could not get the bag tight.
Great ride today with my new Keen Brixens. Found a nice trail system that is close to home. Never felt a tire slip. I do need to remember on rough inclines to not go into such a low gear as one big root will just stop me as I have no momentum. Hot chocolate in the Thermos.
They work great for Midwest type weather, 15-40F. I like that I can wear thin gloves and feel my controls. They work in cold, wind and rain conditions. If I was in colder conditions I think Pogies would be the way to go.
The tires on your motorbike are totally weaksauce. I think your fatbike could kick it's ass in a drunken bar brawl.
