    Manuel Beastley Sea Otter 2013

Stumbled across this on Black Sheep's Facebook page. There's more than a touch of hype about this article but interesting nonetheless. Hope it's not a repost...

    Repost, but worth repeating

Best pisstake in ages, and he did it for real.

He may need to really go to work on an oil rig once his real bike sponsors wake up to this....

For what it’s worth (also a shameless re-re-re-re-repost) I managed a 15th place out of 44 entries at the Sea Otter Classic Men’s Cat2 43-44 XC on my 39 pound 9:zero:7 fatbike… after having made it to the starting line roughly three minutes after the group started. Shamelessly re-re-re-re-re-reposting the image of me doing a “I’m having fun” wheelie on an uphill section courtesy of the Phine Photographers at Zazoosh:

Not a bad idea I guess. Perhaps I will consider it…

Ok, I think I'm getting less confused.

"Manual Beastly" managed a 49 out of 100 in the pro division in the cross country race.

on a basically stock POS Wallmart bike that weighs as much as some motorcycles.

    Is that about right?

But apparently he could not get the nimble gazelle of a bike to qualify for the dual slalom.

2013 Race Results (Volkswagen Sea Otter Classic - April 10-13, 2014)

So when I get my POS bike I'll be just like Beastly......cool.

I wonder how he would have fared in the 40 mile Cat1 XC race? Why in the hell did they make the Cat1 race harder than the Pro race??? Makes no sense to me.
