What issues are you having, just curious as I have a couple sets and zero issues? My experience with Hope is they take care of you if you are having issues. have you talked to them?
Last time I mentioned the thought of an i9 fat hub I received a neg rep, I love my I9's!! I do believe the Phil 170mm hub is using I9 internals but I can't be fur shure.
Paul is based off the old heavy hub with huge bearing on the outside of the cassette
the I9 is the new torch series hub "lighter" small bearing under cassette ..
my 135mm old school I9 hub is going strong into its 3rd season
I have Pro 2 EVO rear hubs on my all mountain bike and have had a similar experience. Cracked two alloy freehubs along the key spline and the bearings in the steel freehub exploded after low mileage. On the second steel fh now and if this one blows I'm moving on. I think they increased the axle diamter with the EVO hubs so the bearings are thinner now and in my experience they may not be up to the job.
When I cracked one of my fh the whole unit seized, ripping my dropout and destroyed my rear derailleur. $70 dropout (Intense), $300 SRAM X0 rd, $100 steel freehub....not a cheap mechanical.
