I mainly Beach ride on my Pug and I find that riding through Rockpools is fun and at times Scary !

I`ve known about the Hopey Steering Damper for some time :-

I seem to remember that a few people have them on Fatbikes.

I would be grateful for any thoughts and experiences (and Pix!).

Thanks,
Dr FG

I've got the Hopey on my Pugs for a year now,. I like it. Its especially handy on climbs, and downhills. On the climbs, it helps to keep you on track, and on the downhills it helps to keep your point of direction in order and you can ease the death grip on the bars. I like the on the fly adjustment ,very easy to use. In the technical, I keep the setting on mild to off.

The Pin for the dampener can be cut. Thats the tall straight rod . There is a measurement that needs to kept for the clearences, a cut steer tube shouldn't give you a problem

I rode one on a tandem, I wouldn't waste your time or money, esp on a fat bike ridden in snow.

The damper will slow your response, so more likely to understeer unless you set it so light that it does nothing at all.

Better bet for adjusting responsiveness is to reduce tire pressure.

Wow ! Thread resurrection !

I like my Hopey for soft sand riding and still have it on my Charge Cooker :)

As for SC32's still have a pair on my Wife's Pug .

Inverted fat forks have come a long a little since then though .

Cheers,

Dr FG :)
