Hey Fatso (x-post from framebuilding)
So I impulse-bought some fat bike wheels, tires and fork used from Donkey here on mtbr. Thought it would be neat to try one of those sand/snow bikes. You guys all look like you're having so much fun!
The fabrication was interesting, because the rear hub is offset 18mm towards the driveside...and all my fixturing is set up to build symmetrical. I also wanted to try the new Paragon 44mm head tube. I usually go 1" on my mtb TTs and thought that such a small tube would look funny with the huge head tube...so I went with this twin TT version. I'll see how that works out. Kept all the cable runs on this one extrenal, just to keep things simple.
I'll but some more pics up on this thread when I get it powdercoated and built up. It'll be Belltown Green.
Have a good day, B
I so love that. I am a sucker for twin top tubes. Mind if I repost on my site?
That's freakin hot!
Since you can do that, I'll assume you make 'em yourself, but in case not, where do you get the 100mm BB shells?
They have 83mm and 100mm BB shells in steel and titanium. They also sell matching perfect fit ISCG tabs.
Very VEry VERy VERY NIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCEEEEE
A Fatback'd Lefty for who life IS a Beach
i couldnt resist, i even changed the song for you.
i love it. i cant wait advanced welding class starts on the 14th yes!
I meant to get back on here earlier and say no problem posting pics BigHit...sorry about that.
The 100 mm shell is available from Paragon, as Drew said.
Frame is at PC now and maybe I'll get it built up sometime this weekend.
Thanks for looking.
So I got it built up...
and it's a ton of fun. The conditions were such around here that I could ride right across the top of the snow. I rode anywhere I wanted in the woods. Tried basically following our normal loops, but things look different under 2' of snow. This coming weekend, bringing it up to the Adirondacks to give some proper snowmobile trails a try.
Damn, that thing looks good !!
Are you going to let the fork like that, or is it going to be painted to match the frame ?
That is the business dude. Love it.
Nice. You gotta paint the fork to match.
if it aint broken, dont fix it. buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttt if you do paint it black. my 2 cents
