    Hadley 197x12 XD

I'm pretty sure I'm going to treat myself to a Hadley 197x12 XD rear hub...

Anybody else running one? I know they're not so common because they are special order.

    Any insight or helpful comments?

I cannot speak o the the 197XD, but I have a 170 that has been rock solid pushing my 200# butt around. I am in the process of converting it to 177 TA from QR. The only thing that saddens me is that they do not make a 150 front hub in red, only black. They make a conversion axle, but then the wheel needs to be redished and the hub will be offset.

I guess my point is, if you are going for a color, other than black, you will either have to live with an offset front Hadley hub, a black Hadley hub or a different brand front hub (which I may do)

Good to hear. I'm more about being bullet-proof versus a few grams lighter.

I'm just going boring black and have a Lefty up front.

I have been running a Hadley 197 x 12 HD via Fatback all winter. It has been excellent. Some years ago when I bought my first Fatback I had the opportunity to upgrade with Hadley hubs (135/170) but opted to go with the imports. I regreted that decision and when I bought a new bike this winter I went with the Hadleys. Well worth the money.

I'm on a set of Hadley's. They are rock solid, ridden/raced them on the Iditarod Trail Invitational twice now and thousands of training miles. Wouldn't trade them for anything...except money. Haha

I've been trying to get a hadley rear hub since mid November through Balle racing? Every Time I ask they just say Hadley says it will be another two or three weeks. Anyone have any ideas? I need a 12x197 thru with a shimano type freehub.

Bighorn, try Speedway cycles (Fatback bikes).

    Contact us – Speedway Cycles

I was in the Speedway shop late last week and they had several pairs of Hadleys under the glass. I am pretty sure they were 197x12. I don't see the the Hadley hubs for sale on the Fatback website.

I suggest contacting Fatback bikes (Contact Fatback Bikes - address, phone, email + directions) or Speedway Cycles ( (907) 222-1967 ) and I expect they can sell you a set. They might be out of the Shimano style freehub bodies, but you can ask.

I just went through trying to get some conversion kits to make may Fatback (Hadley) hubs thru axles. I contacted both Balle and Fatback. Erik Balle was more responsive and is getting me what I need. I give him two thumbs up for responsiveness.

My parts have shipped from Balle Racing! 170QR rear hub will be converted to 177 TA. Front 135QR will be converted to 135TA and then I will use one of these:https://www.ebay.com/itm/262287844794

to adapt it to my 150mm fork. It's not ideal, but it keeps the matching hubs and keeps the front hub centered.

Erik special ordered the parts and no money was due until they came in. Great communication & service.

Just want to report I have my 197 HG rear hub now! BALLE racing got some in stock. Erik got it to me in about 3 days. My wheel is built. I just need to install it and ride! That stainless cassette body is slick! 72 points of grab is all you need!

Same here except an XD version... it's sitting at my buddies house in the US and I'll pick it up the next time I travel.

Erik was great to work with over email

My conversion kits installed nicely as did the spacer kit for the front wheel. Note, if you buy a Park Tool SPA-2 red handled spanner wrench to service your hubs it will work, but will require a little work on a grinder to clearance a few places on it. You will also need 16 and 21 mm cone wrenches.
