And they're only producing 300 of them. Yay false scarcity.

It hasn't been mentioned here, but for those who do not know- These tires are for a limited edition Special Ops Pugs that will be lava Red and have the silver rims, skinwall Nates, and silver stem, seat post, and bars. To my knowledge, the only way to get the skimwall nate is to buy the Special ops Pugs.

Skinwall mtb tires were all you could get until about 1990 or so. Then they slowly went the way of steel frames and rigid geared rigs. Tires were all black, for the most part, after that time.

I think the look is nostalgic, and I for one, happen to like the way skinwall tires give bikes a lighter, airy look, while black tires visually look "heavy". Purely aesthetics, no real reason on the standpoint of performance, although without the extra layer of rubber on a sidewall, it could be argued that a skinwall fatty might be lighter weight.

The lava red is darker than the fire engine red, more like a blood red, it's gorgeous. December-ish ETA.
