The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew is pleased to announce that the 2014 Iron Yeti SnoXross race will now be a point-to-point race.

The 2014 Iron Yeti SnoXross race will start at the Sagamore Unit in Riverton and end at the Croft Mine parking lot within the Yawkey Unit in Crosby. Between these two points the race course will traverse trails of the Sagamore, Mahnomen, Pennington, Portsmouth, and Yawkey Units of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails.

Each race class will have a different length and a different percentage of single track. More details on class routing, length, and elevation to follow over the next few days on our site.

Along with this new race course routing, we will have designated parking areas and shuttle buses for racers. Those updates and locations will also be revealed in upcoming posts.

This new course would not be possible without the hard work of the Cuyuna Lakes Snow Zombies who have put in hundreds of hours into grooming and pre-packing the course. Due to this winter's low temperatures, odd snowfall, and drifting snow, the Snow Zombies have had an incredibly arduous task. We'd also like to recognize Crew member Rori Stumvoll for his efforts and innovation in the design and manufacturing of the mechanized snow grooming equipment. Without Rori's assistance, once again, we would not have the ability to evolve our race course.

We'd also like to extend a Yeti-sized thank you to the Sno-Serpents Snowmobile Club of Deerwood through their support of our race course crossing the snowmobile trail allowing our purpose built single track to be naturally connected. This is a great example of multiple user groups working together for a best possible product.

Also, this course would not exist without the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources ability to groom Cuyuna's single track via mechanized equipment. Much thanks goes to the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area for their assistance and leadership within the sport of winter mountain biking.

If you haven't already, please register for the 2014 Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew, and every dollar the event produces, is re-invested into the trails of Cuyuna. Also, please remember the Iron Yeti SnoXross race has a rider cap of 300 persons across all classes. When we reach 300 total registrations, the online registration is scheduled to immediately close. (Register now!)

    Thank you!

—The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew
