From my house past my local single track because it will be 45 degrees out and the trail will be muddy to a LBS sponsored Winter Bike Expo in Minneapolis.

We have an urban ride heading from a Cleveland bar, out to the North Coast bikeway, up to the park, and back to the bar. Check out the CAMBA FB page.

It's sorta anti-climactic without snow, or at least bad weather, but WTH.

I have a road bike ride planned that day. It will qualify as a fat ride, but only because I am the one that's fat.

Until Hallmark publishes cards, it's not a real thing.

    GFBD - Easter Ross, Scotland

Rather than have a designated meet up and ride time, we're doing a lazy man's drum-up.

    Garve Burger Van at 12:15.

That means you can ride from anywhere to get there and leave when you like and ride at your own pace.

Depending on a rider's arrival time from Thurso, I'll be leaving from Strathpeffer or Contin if anyone wants to join us from that direction.

Looks to be a sunny clear day with a high temperature of 60°F, so I think I will be riding my singlespeed rigid 9:zero:7 around my local (Los Gatos/San Jose area in California) trails. Mostly fire roads, but there’s some good technical singletrack to be had too.

Will be riding somewhere around here:

Carbondale, CO. But it hasn't snowed, the studded tires are mounted up, and might just tink away over the rocks and dirt anyway.
I would advise not taking my advice.

No snow in Park City!!! We are going to ride our tandem in the dirt. it's not a fatty so I might have to take the dog out on the trail behind the house on my Mukluk. Supposed to snow a little on Sunday. This has been a crazy year.

SW CO is basically devoid of snow right now. Telluride even delayed opening their ski slopes. I got some fatbiking in the high country in early Nov, but I think the conditions are too sloppy/muddy right now with snow melt. I'll ride the 27.5s on dirt tomorrow, but the Dillinger 5s will remain on the rack.

I think they need to re think the date. It was very warm last year here also. Tomorrow is going to be 48 degrees.
I'd think end of January, beginning of February would probably work better.

Working today, so I did my ride yesterday. Did 7 miles on Days River Trail. Gloomy day, but fairly warm 40 degrees. Only the second time I've been back on the trail since I got hurt there in July. Good to be back! (today my butt is draggin'! ha!)

Rode some local trails on my rigid singlespeed fatty today. Lots of steep climbs and descents (steepest climb was 31% grade, it caused pain on the singlespeed):
    <iframe height='405' width='590' frameborder='0' allowtransparency='true' scrolling='no' src='https://www.strava.com/activities/1299561686/embed/86942d2c7b08fc12c81096c57548fe10d26b31e1'></iframe>

Hmm, embedding doesn’t seem to be working, so here is the link:

Our trail system in central Minnesota is closed because it's too warm...the freeze/thaw cycles make the trails soft after about 10 am. I rode 23 miles on my road bike. It was 50 degrees today, but going back into the deep freeze next week. Hopefully cold enough for the singletrack to harden up, and with luck we'll get some snow. Win-win though....if no snow, we can ride the singletrack, if there's snow, they'll groom for fatbikes.

Rode Rabbit Holes with Extraterrestrials on a 29er, not so fat, but I didn't exactly need float or much traction on frozen dirt

Is it kind of quasi-fat if there's rim strip showing through holes?

Had to do a bit of walking.

Ice melting turned an innocuous little ford into a torrent with the added benefit of a waterfall at its edge with nasty consequences if you were to fall. It was deeper and faster on the return journey.

I'll be honest, and will probably get booed off this forum, but I don't ride my fat bike as a fat bike much anymore. I put a Fox 34 Boost fork on it a few months ago, swapped the wheelset to 27.5 x 3.0 Nobby Nics, and been having a blast on it. Because of my lack of fat biking, I didn't initiate the DC Edition of the Global Fat Bike Day a month ahead of time like I have the last 5 years. However, I was asked by several locals about it, felt guilty, and threw something together just a couple of days before the event. Word hardly got out, and we had about 10 fat bikers (about a 1/3 of last year's GFBD), and 10 more skinny bikers because we don't discriminate

To make my bike fat bike "legal", I put 27.5 x 3.8" Bontrager Hodags on my bike, and I might like it better than the plus tires. We goofed around Lake Fairfax, then had some chili dogs after the ride

    And I did it twice.

Fortunately I am a believer in thick wool socks.
    Hi Velobike!
Great adventure, i assume that you are not only adept of thick wool socks, but a some whiskey next after (and, optionally, before) water-crossing!
Jamie is a Hero, while crossing the cold river in all his clothing on him! Personally I prefer to pack all my clothing in dry bags before such winter-swimming challenge... especially in self-supported multi-day trip. And definitely, have some high-octane drink after.
    Global-Fat-Bike-Day congratulations to you, anyway!
