Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Global fat night ride 6-21-13

    GLOBAL FAT NIGHT RIDE

Ok folks. The latest in our series of Global Fat Bike Events will take place on the evening of Friday 21st June 2013. Imaginatively named 'Global Fat Night Ride' we would like to invite our chubby chasing friends around the world to once again take to the trails at 8pm local time. Make of it what you will, a solo ride, a group ride, urban, epic, a bivy all-nighter, beach, snow, desert, mountain, moor or even down the isle at Walmart. Just grab a bike, go ride. There will be dedicated photo threads at ukfatbikes.co.uk and at mtbr.com

Go spread the fat love brothers and sisters.

Signing on in Nome AK. All night ride-no bike light necessary. Here's a pic from solstice 2011 taken at about 2 am.

I made a banner for folks to share on Facebook, etc. I don't exactly know where, I'll be on the Solstice, but I'll join the fray, where ever that ends up being.Global fat night ride 6-21-13-gfnr-banner.jpg

I've got a plan, so I'm "officially" gonna join ya'll.

White Sands National Monument. Not supposed to leave prepared roads/trails, but it's a beautiful place anyways. Don't necessarily need to go wild.

No can do! It's Midsummer's Eve (a.k.a. Juhannus) that night and as a tradition here in Finland we have to buy a bottle of Koskenkorva's vodka and get drunk and burn some bonfires!

I'm unclear on how that does NOT include a fat bike. That's how we usually ride them in Colorado.

Indeed, the fatbike can be taken along and cycled around the bonfire!!

Where in Finland are you at Zarni, my wife is from Joensuu and I am trying to persuade her that taking my Fatbike there when we visit for christmas is a great idea!!

    Hmmm, never thought about that...
But actually that day and night I should sit in my car driving to the Finnish Lapland and get ready for my bikerafting adventure.

I live in near Mikkeli city.

    Brilliant!

But I'll be on a skinny bike tire though on a tour...maybe next year (Saturday 2014)...thinking a night ride on the beach...where I'll be riding at low tide this Sunday.

New Jersey Pinelands, Pat, Dave, are we in? I'm ready, willing, and able to lead a ride. Sounds like fun.

Maryland repizenting at Fairland in Silver Spring. Wife and I are joining a fat bike buddy who was already planning to lead a casual ride at that time. Meeting at 6, rolling at 6:30, and should still be on the trail around 8 to count That'll make at least 3 of us. Anyone else care to join?

A small gathering on the North Yorkshire Moors for me and some of the ukfatbikes massif. Then it's a mad dash 100 mile trip home, change and grab my bags for a late flight out to France to catch the 24heures du Mans. I love solstice weekend!

Have a great time folks and don't forget to take your cameras.

Quad Cities (Davenport, IA) will be having a large group ride this Friday as well. Last big fat stomp we had over 50 fat bikes! Hoping for 25-30 this time, as it's not going to be much "fun" off-roading due to the river levels.

Is this just for Fat Bikes? I only have a 29 hardtail with 2.2 in tires...

And how far / fast you guys going? Am in pretty good shape, I think! (Can ride solo road rides at 18mpg for 90mins, if thats any indicator...)

Haven't ridden Carranza yet, would love to join!
