Fatty Ride Report: Waha Mtns North Central Idaho

Reading another thread and seems folks are wanting more ride reports so here is one from my ride today.

Fairly new Pugs owner here and it is my first fat bike and really enjoying it so far. It is liberating knowing there are almost no limits on where you can ride this thing. I live in Lewiston Idaho and our closest mountains (known locally as the Waha's) are only about 25 miles away. I have ridden the area many times on my Fargo but had stuck mostly to the main gravel roads. With the Pugs I have really been able to open up the area. There are miles and miles of old logging roads, etc that are now totally closed to motorized traffic. Pretty much just horseback, hikers, and bikers.

Most of the people in this area are not interested in doing anything that does not involve a motor. So, I pretty much have the place to myself. My route today was 45 miles and I did not see another soul until I was almost back to my car.

The Waha's sit high above the Salmon River to the south side and the Snake river/hells canyon to the west side. As a result you are often treated to amazing views looking down in the river canyons. On clear days you can also see the snowcapped peaks of the Wallowa mtns of NE Oregon and the Seven Devil mtn range in Idaho.

Here is a link to todays route......

    Garmin Connect

I didn't really have a firm route plan just wanted to explore some new country I had not seen so my route is ummm interesting.
