    Fatbike bb30

Has anyone put a bb30 on their fatbike? All you need is a custom spindle and you would have the option of running all kinds of modern lightweight xc cranks instead of the downhill stuff.
Apparently this guy will make custom bb30 spindles.

Doesn't the frame have to be built with a BB30 shell?

I tried to extend a regular (shimano) external bb crank spindle that ended in a bid fail!

The e*thirteen cranks use a 30mm spindle with oversized outboard bearings. The crank arms are the same as their XC version, so they are very light.

My goal is to be able to run SRAM xx1. I figure the easiest way to do this is with a custom bb30 spindle. Who is fabricating your spindle?

The e*thirteen are two piece cranks. I'm pretty certain all the bb30 cranks are two piece as well-could be wrong, but I haven't seen any arms separate of the spindle.

The bb30 spindle is usually attached to the non-drive side crankarm on the SRAM cranks, but I think it's removable. If not, I'll just run a non-drive side crank that is.

I was on the phone with Hadley the other day in my quest to get XX1 on the fatbike and they do have plans to make the hub xd driver compatible. However, since Fatback 170mm rear hubs are only ordered through you, they need an order from you to make it possible. Any interest? I know it's a very small market, but it seems like a great product for the fatbike.
