Fat Bike CX/Crit style race
I've been thinking about planning one or more Fat Bike CX style races this winter and was wondering if anyone has done or planned any before. i know of lots of longer fat races, but what about shorter crit ones? We have a big CX & Fat Bike scene at our shop, so i think i can make this happen.
I think it sounds ****ing awesome. Run ups, barriers, ice section, unpacked snow section, snow drifts. It would be exhaustingly awesome. I think it sounds better than an ice race...
We've got an informal winter series up here called the frigid bits. Less of a race series and more of a monthly get together with a route. Not fat bike specific though.
I seem to think Anchorage's CX series has a fatbike category
I'm taking a guess at this by your signature, you are in Chicago? About the same latitude as me near Ann Arbor, Mi. One issue you will have planning a snow race is actually having snow. We have one regular race now over the last three years held in early February, all have had snow. Prior to this years back we had a series held from January-March where some had no snow, or became a mudfest. One other race here in Michigan is held just north of you, in a format like you are describing, the Versluis Snow Cross. I've not done it, they do groom the course so a regular MTB or a cross bike can handle it. That race always gets racers, it's been held for quite a few years.

Did a fun CX race on my Pugs this last weekend. It had rained the two days before the race and here is the result:
