Fast fat wheels for sale.

Most fatbikes these days come with a middling parts spec that tries to please everyone (dirt riders, snow riders, bikepackers, and racers) in one fell swoop. And as with any set of compromises, it ends up pleasing no one entirely.

Where I'm going with this is that unless you're riding soft surfaces 100% of the time, you don't need the 80 or 100mm width of the rims you have on your fatbike -- you're effectively pushing around a lot of added mass with those rims and extra rolling resistance with that too-square tire profile.

If you don't need that width, why keep it around?

The wheelset below is an answer to the question of how to make your fat wheels both lighter and faster, with the added bonus of a reliable tubeless interface.

These are Stans Hugo V2 26" rims, paired with DT Swiss Big Ride hubs.

Front hub is 15 x 150, rear is 12 x 177. Can also be 170mm QR, and I can provide the skewer as well.

Driver can be Shimano 10 or SRAM XD -- you tell me.

Spokes are DT Swiss butted -- Competition up front, SuperComp out back, laced with DT Prolock alloy nips in red.

Tubeless tape and valves installed and ready to go.

This is an $862 wheelset at MSRP. Selling this one set, on special this week only, for $700 shipped.

Here are the rules, cut and pasted from a forum admin post in the classifieds section:

...you may post one (1) forum thread about your item for sale in an additional discussion, regional or manufacturer forum.

Forum members posting items for sale are allowed to respond to questions or give updates on pricing or features, but they are NOT allowed to artificially "bump" their threads to the top of the forum.

All items for Sale must have a price. Please do not post "make me an offer" have a number in mind before you put the item for sale.

In addition, links to Craigslist, eBay or other MTB websites with classifieds will not be allowed.

If one of you out-of-work HOA specialists would like to point out how I'm in violation of any of that, I'll gladly take note.

Thanks,

MC

The full rule:

3.) The message is an advertisement or spam.
(NOTE: It has been an "unwritten" rule for us to let it slide, when people who buy an Mtbr For Sale Classified ad, post in the forums (free Wanted ads excluded). However, due to the recent increase in these ads, we will now be locking these types of posts. And you may NOT post an ad in more than 1 forum. This courtesy (allowing paid classifieds users to post in the forums) does not extend to companies or business entities. ADDENDUM: Posting "What's It Worth" type threads may be considered spam and may be deleted at the moderator's discretion. Check our Classifieds section for similar bikes/parts for value.)

You present yourself as a commercial entity with your linking to your business of building wheels.

If you've found your way here, you're looking for a high-end handbuilt wheelset.

I specialize in 29", fat, and Plus wheelsets, but will lace almost anything within reason.

I build roughly 1200 wheels per year, one at a time, by hand, out of my shop in Western Colorado. I've been building wheels for almost 20 years, and specializing in 29" and fat wheels since 1999.

You're in good hands here - building wheels is what I do.
I'm sure you make a fine wheel, so why tarnish your reputation with games on a high traffic website where your target audience is watching? Buy an ad like the other commercial enterprises represented and get it over. Or sponsor a forum like bikesdirect.com has done for this forum which your retail posts are appearing in.

Dear mikesee,
You are false advertising.
I have bought a few wheels sets off you over the years. None of the have made me fast. Not one.
On the other hand....I have put thousands of miles on every one of them. They ride great and I have not had to put a spoke wrench to any of them ever.
Worth every penny.

You have an overinflated sense of...

...something. Sorry about that.

You're aware that there's a world *outside* of this computer screen right? Swear to god! Check it out some time - fresh air, birds, flowers, dirt, even *actual* people to interact with...

I like his attitude and those that can handle the truth do too, like someone said before, snowflakes need their safe spaces. Grow up, he build great wheels. You people are like the kid that takes his ball and goes away, how about you just go away, maybe you could go protest, then loot and burn a Starbucks down somewhere.
.
I don't care if he sells here. Its not my forum, nor my rules. Just pointing out that the typical Mike behavior of insulting people that don't agree with him, has cost him sales.

You do the same thing
