Ok, I will be interested to see if it fits a Mukluk. It could be an interesting wheel/tire set for the summer. The Mukluk even has a low bottom bracket that should work well with these.

And the weight is definitely interesting and non-fat.

    I don't think so.
    I just checked.
BB drop on Pugs is 2.2.
BB drop on KM is 2.7
Opposite of what you would think. Fat bike has less drop.
I bet it will be closer to the 2.7 of the KM.

can't wait to see in Mendon can fit this rim and tire combo on the new lefty

    Sj

P.S. Mendon if you can get someone to make a eccentric 1.25 steerer adapter you can gain 5mm of clearance ;-)

Our new bike is called Krampus.
Its the first bike for a platform weve created called 29+ (important little detail there).
Its a 29er. Brilliant, you get a gold star.
Its got clearance for up to a 3 tire.
It gets this done with a 73mm BB.

Im guessing that youd like to know more and I bet youd like to see some pictures. All in good time my friend.

Youve entertained us rather well and weve paid attention. We read the forums and the blogs wherever were mentioned. Now lets see if youre paying attention.

any word on frame sizes for this bad boy?

A xxl 24 inch frame like the Ogre would be really cool...

Am I seeing Monkey Nuts instaled? Wonder why do they need them with no FD. Wheel base tweaking? Optimal axel-RD position? Pre production frame with clearance issues?

probably to allow you to run a smaller 29er tire with a shorter chainstay length.

So Surly's taking a page from Apple's playbook.

Manufacture a niche and fill it.

Chain clearance on the back tire - not seeing much daylight there with the 73mm shell - hence the single ring up front? I have to assume Surly has thought that out.....or just use MWODs?

1.5 head tube is awesome. more steel bikes need to move to this size. it has the most versatility. wonder if they changed any of the other models to use it as well.

    For those with Mukluks..

My titanium Muk with Stan's Flow rims and 2.25" On One Smorgasbord tires has 8mm of clearance between the top of the tire and the seat stay bridge.

I'm doubtful a Knard/Rabbit Hole combo would fit in there.

This is my Carver with Flows and an Ardent 2.4 - I'm hoping 2 things - 1. the Knard will fit on the Flows and, 2. the combo will fit on the frame - looks like there might be room in back - up front on the Minute 29 - not so much.

and likely fill it to the extent it becomes mainstream just like fatbikes.
