The Bruiser: 9:zero:7, Gates, Alfine, Lefty

I finally got almost all the parts together, I am just waiting on a rear brake bracket (I was shipped the wrong one, ordered replacement next day air on wednesday and it didn't ship until friday...)

Thanks to Mikesee for the awesome wheel build and MendonCycleSmith for the lefty fork.

Next step will be building up a set of skinny wheels, either going with flows or rabbit holes to run knards and "normal" tires. 135mm Offset frame is the only way to run an alfine, gates, and rabbit holes.

Something tells me you're going to enjoy riding that. I wish Gates made a front pulley smaller than 39T, though. My granny gear is a touch high.

Very cool mix of parts there, sharp looking too with the blue and black.
You don't need a rear brake anyways

It would also help with sprocket clearance/spacing. The downside to Alfine is the narrow "belt" line compared to other IGH offerings, so there is only about 1.5 mm of clearance between the sprocket and chainstay. I am just monkeying around with the gates stuff for now, I may ditch it for a chain in the future but seeing as how I came across a belt compatible frame for cheap and just had the chain on my 1x1 blow out--I decided to give it a try!

Defintely feeling the gearing issues. It hasn't really stopped me yet but it's the biggest shortcoming in the gates setup so far...

24t, I haven't been able to find the 26t that gates lists anywhere, but I would really rather go smaller on the front.

Yeah. Sorry to hear that MrMcFeely. I've thought about either going back to chain, or getting some parts waterjet cut and bonding them together to make my own front pulley and swapping out the 118 belt for a 113 belt. But no promises on that second notion.
