    Bontrager Gnarwal studded tires

The only tires any bike shops around me have left are Gnarwals. Does anyone have any experience with these or have any thoughts (other than that they are way overpriced)

Here in the Northeast we have little snow but lots of ice and it looks like the rest of the winter will be the same. I'm riding a Pugsley.

    Any input appreciated.

I saw that but no one seems to have ridden them in that thread. Thanks.

They are great tires. Not for crazy steep waterfall riding, but for the average icy trail they're great. Mind your pressures -- small adjustments make big differences.

I rode with a guy who had them, there are only 160 studs and the studs have a flat head, they are no Dillinger, but a respectable tire. He talked about adding grip studs to the remaining lugs to add more traction.

I just ordered one for the rear as i had a snowshoe xl front. Not really looking for crazy ice traction but i wanted more snow grip than my hodags and the studs are a plus if i hit some icy patches.

I just came from Bikeman and they have plenty of everything in stock. They have free shipping over $100 and price match online for most items. They also have the Bluto Turnagain ETR kits back in stock which is what I went in for but it's always nice to go check out their tire selection. That's where I picked up my unstudded Dillinger 5's for $120 a tire.
