    Billy Koitzsch rulz!

I'm not sure if this ride is epic enough for this board these days, but Billy Koitzsch is probably 4 or 5 hours away from riding into Fairbanks to complete his roughly 2,000 mile ride from Big Lake to Nome to Fairbanks. He's gonna come in around 6 weeks, plus or minus a day or so, and minus about 40 lbs, from what I've heard.

Most of the ITI field probably passed Billy around Rainy Pass (on February 26th!!!) and we've all been sleeping in our own beds for so long now that we can't even remember what a cold night on the trail feels like. He's been out there this entire time, chipping away at this thing.

Crazy accomplishment. Hat's off to Billy!! I'll be drinking one in his honor tonight. But right now I'm gonna take a burger and some fries out to him.

    Amazing ride. Well done Billy!

Here's a photo I took of him a few years back. I suspect he's smiling like that now.

Billy's motto? "What would Stamstad do?"
If Huffy made an airplane, would you fly in it?

Billy kicks ass. Such an incredible feat. He attempted this last winter, but had to stop early due to severe frostbite suffered after dunking his foot in overflow at something like -40. To come back and own it this year makes it even sweeter.

Met up with Billy about 30 miles out of town a couple hours ago. He looks real good for a guy that's just ridden ~2000 miles through an Alaskan winter. I think he's really looking forward to seeing his family and being done with the ride. He mostly talked about what a beautiful trip it has been.

......This feat makes me think I could ride from little-old-Anchorage to McGrath.....just maybe! It's something I never thought I would want.

I have been wondering when I would see his bike on the rack at his workplace. Thank You for the update on his progress.

    Cheers Billy!

    Top notch Kootch!

Here he is north of Rohn:

    And then almost to Unalakleet:

I spent 3 weeks out there and though when I got to Nome I was ready for a shower, I've since been envious every day that he was still riding and I was not.

Congrats on sticking with it--not likely to be duplicated.

Wow, that is far and cold! Congratulations to Billy on this great accomplishment. I hope he can share some of his stories with those of us who don't know him. After a lot of R&R of course.

Wow, that's one for the history books. Impressive ride, Billy. Bill and KathiM are going to have to add another leg to their race now.
