    Another Mendon Pug!

So I got the Fat itch due to Leopold Porkstacker. Saw the Pug on CL and my fiancé bought it for my birthday-I was broke after spending a hefty amount on a Pivot 5.7c, which has seen little dirt since the Pug came home with me.
Then after reading about Mendon Cycles, shot Craig a email and a few months later, Brown Santa has arrived!
I'm also going to remove the CK headset and BB on my old Enduro, order a new sleeve for the BB and install as well. I already took a spare CK rear hub and upgraded the rear wheel with it laced on a Large Marge Lite. Also bought a set of used XT dual action brakes/shifters that will replace the BB7's. Next is a dropper post, looking for a Lev most likely to go along with the Brooks BB7 I have waiting to be installed.
Was considering repainting, but ill think about it. This may take a while to install only because of a busy schedule. Craig at Mendon Cycles is a great guy to deal with and very helpful. Also sent me a cool free beer glass!!

Thanks and that's a beauty gcappy! So since I have only limited time these next two weeks-think I'm going to try to tear down the Pug and take it in to get 'beautified'. Maybe orange or green. Original idea was flat black-will have some thinking to do.

Keep us posted. We love pictures and specs! Wait till you rock that thing on the local single track. Every ones head will turn in disbelief that you can ride these things with people on 26/29ers.

You’re going to have to bring it over so we can get it built. No excuses. Feel free to pay me for services rendered in mezcal and beer. We’ll take lots of bikeporn pictures of the build progress and post them up on teh intarwebs. It’ll be rad. We can even listen to Bananarama and Culture Club on the sound system in my garage mancave.

Craig is a outstanding guy to get info from and his work looks sweet! Have to say thanks to Leopold as well for showing me the Fat Side.
I get a lot of attention and questions about the Pug already, I can only imagine once the Lefty is on. Just found out my neighbor was a automotive painter-so going to see if he'll paint the frame-but he's not super cool so may just powder coat. Powder coating will be more durable which is what I prefer. Here's some Picts of the pug and fork-

Alright-this is taking a long time and perhaps I should have waited til I was along further into the build to start the thread-BUT the arrival of parts got me too excited.
Still have full time baby duty til my fiancé gets home next Tuesday, so making time to do anything is not really a reality. BUT did have time to place a order for my Chris King 100mm BB sleeve and Jone's H bar, tape and grips. Went with the full loop since I'd like a place to mount a light or GPS. Also chose to go with aluminum since it's my first time trying a bar like this.
Hopefully I can make a lil time to tear it apart for paint this weekend, but the thought of it non rideable breaks my heart! Details to follow!

Handlebar, grips and tape arrived. So did the CK BB sleeve. Pug has been shipped off to be 'Goblinized'! Should be back by Thursday.

Call around and see. At one point both Universal Cycles and Cambria Bike stocked the green ones in the 175mm crank length. Worth a call to find out. Otherwise, find a colour to complement the green—something truly complimentary such as purple or orange … or even both!

May as well get those Marge Lites powdercoated either of those two colours in the meantime… unless you just want to get the bike built so you can go riding SOON!

OK, so we still ready for the build-up this Friday night? F*ckers at CCCX moved my race to Saturday instead of Sunday, so no heavy drinking for me Friday night . Bummer since tooling on bikes and drinking go hand in hand.

    Sweet looking rig!!!

Also, I have to say Craig is a great guy to deal with. If you have a fatty that needs a good suspension fork or if you just need your lefty serviced send Craig (mendoncyclesmith) a note. He's super patient and happy to help you out. Wish there were more folks in the industry like him...

We (Nelson34, IAmHolland, and myself) got a little bit more progress underway last night. Probably could have gotten further along, but Nelson34 kept the beer and premium tequila flowing at a steady rate so all we managed to do was get rotors mounted to the wheels, calipers mounted to the frame/fork, and the Chris King BB installed. He is still waiting for the crankset to arrive.

    Another Mendon Pug!

So finally took it in to have LBS finish her up-need to finish up a few details like wrapping the bars up. Have a bit of front tire rub, but talked to Craig and he told me how to fix.
My LBS said dialing it in was a learning experience and their first fat bike. Have to say Craig is a HuGe help-answers emails very quickly!
Took it for a test ride and have low braking power in the front-may need new pads, back wheel came loose-probably a loose skewer-was fine rest of the ride. I need to dish the front wheel over a bit and then re-center and she should be good to go! Love this bike!!!Another Mendon Pug!-imageuploadedbytapatalk-21361827255.301508.jpgAnother Mendon Pug!-imageuploadedbytapatalk-21361827293.657476.jpgAnother Mendon Pug!-imageuploadedbytapatalk-21361827312.219778.jpg
