29er+ Wheelsets with 197 Thru Axle Hubs

Thinking about throwing a set of 29er+ wheels or maybe just straight up 29er wheels but I am having some challenges finding wheelsets or even hub options for 197mm thru axle rears short of Onyx......or I9 etc.

Hope scares the crap out of me but the wheelset will be for my wife and she is light on wheels and not hard on equipment so perhaps Hope would be fine.

What else is out there for options?

    Thanks

    DT Swiss - done.
I have a set here, along with Mulefut 50mm hoops for an upcoming build for the Farley 7.

Effectively, since she is lightweight, Hope should do but with DTSwiss, no questions ask: Mine are on Hugo52 and i'm 200.

Nah - he's better off with DT Swiss in the bang for the buck department.

DT swiss 350 big ride and Velocity Blunt 35s perhaps........

I could run a reasonably wide tire on those for fun right?

Chosen or Powerway. Both are available on Ebay for about $120 a set. or look at the-house.com. they have wheels with tires for about $480 for the set. The framed wheels come with their Pub Hubs. If you go through ICAN/XMCarbon you can get the power way or Novatech's laced to carbon rims for what you are going to spend on the I9 hubs alone.

If you must have a name brand then DT Swiss all the way.

I run my 29+ on older P35s. The tire still has a nice profile and I run the front at 8-10psi without any issues.

My buddy (6'8", 290lbs)was destroying hubs daily, Hope hubs would last a few hours, Chinese hubs lasted minutes. He has been on Onyx hubs since November without any issues, quiet and solid. https://www.facebook.com/OnyxRacingProducts/

Kinda agree with this thought based on what I have read.

That being said, even DT is spendy for a second set of wheels for a 3rd or 4th bike, so I need to think this through.....OH crap, this would be for my wife.....so 2nd bike not 3rd or 4th.....

But for her, she might be fine with a set of those Framed wheels and if the hub blows up, we unlace and slap a DT in there.

If I do a set for me, I would probably lean towards something built around DT......seeing as Hope are even more $ than DT and have me scared.

I would start with a less expensive set for her - no doubt.
DT Swiss are indeed still spendy, but still in the range where that money is well spent and truly paying for quality and not 'bling' or even more points if engagement that you won't notice.

Did you consider a set of 27.5+ tires and rims? Lighter weight, less rolling resistance than fat wheels, and not the diameter increase that comes with 29+.

With this wheelset, primarily I'm trying to get something different for my wife for her Scott Big Ed in the summer. She has 27.5" wheels (not +) on her Cannondale Rush so she mentioned 29er and I know she is intrigued with the 27.5+ that we have seen in person.......but.....she would say 27+ isn't "different" enough from her Rush.

duexdiesel - Been many reports of issues with Hope hubs......but most of those I believe were the Fatsno 2s and I see Fatsno 4s out.....but they are even more spendy than DT 350s.......so........
