    2018 specialized fatboy rims

I am looking at the specialized fatboy for 2018. The rims are not cutout, and the spokes are arraigned in the middle of the rim.

Just curious if there's any insights on this new design? Are they heavier than the older design? Are they more robust for tubeless setup?

The specialized website doesn't have the 2018 models on it. This was in my lbs, fresh out of the box

    Thanks!

That's strange. I'm interested in this reasoning too.

The 2018 website isn't available to the public. The new colors are rocket red and gloss black. So the rims have changed from 2017.

And the price went down $50

I did some more searching. The rims on a 2017 are a stout 90, while the rims on a 2018 are a stout 80. So they are narrower by 10 mm

From the specs below, I don't know of the weight or if the spokes are double butted. Guess I'll have to go into the shop

Sounds to me like they made their own version of Trek's Jackalope rim.

I've seen them in person; they look like a cross between a HED BAD and Jackalope. Pretty promising looking... My girlfriend should have a new Comp Carbon on Thursday and we'll be setting them up tubeless ASAP.
