So the new Mukluks will have the Beargrease fork combined with the bottle mounts of the Enabler?
Hopefully the price is closer to the Enabler...

Yep, will be called the Bearpaw fork if I seen correctly.

That gold-ish color on the Muk 2 is really awesome. I also like the little downtube color detailing they did on the carbon... I've seen pictures of the X9 and had a hard time telling if that is actually a colored decal (purple/blue) or is it actually holographic? It looks almost like that color changing paint you see on cars... now that would be cool.
...Be careful what you're looking at because it might be looking back...

Why Nates? I have a pair, but they came off quite quickly. Too much friction for me.

No. But as the new Mukluk will have a Beargrease fork with benefits, it will be a reasonably light frameset (<3kg). And IMO the alu fork looks better than the steel too.

The decals and colours of 2014 Salsas look nice. Except for Ti Mukluk. Like business in the front, party in the back

Will the Ti Mukluk be built with the new (m.y. 2013+) geometry? Or are they still carrying over the old one?

Good question bme107, I would assume the newer given it now has a updated 44mm HT and appears to have a shorter head tube/stack height.

Good catch. I was just trying to figure it by BB drop comparison, but the pictures of the other models weren't as perfect from the side.

I like the added paint, but it's just a bit too much IMO. Maybe just a couple of bands around the logo on the DT, maybe some on the SS and CS.

I've been told the new titanium Muk is newer geo and rides better than the old one. That said, I am not getting rid of my old one.

I'm not either, but it sure would be nice to add one to the stable! I love my 2013 Muk, but I really, really want a ti frame. I've done so many upgrades to my current bike, I could transfer all the parts to the ti frame and re-build my old bike back up stock. hmmmmmmm........
    got moto?

I just got off the phone with Bikeman.com and he said they're not all showing on the dealer list yet. He saw the Muk2, Muk Ti and the Black Muk3 complete bikes. Still no release date from what he could tell. If someone would give a heads up on this thread when they become available, that would be awesome I'm after a black Muk3 frameset only. Been collecting parts for almost a year! Want to ride it!

Your going to have to find a dealer that is willing to strip a Muk3 to get that frameset... Salsa is only selling the Muk Ti, Carbon Beargrease and the Gold Muk2 as Frameset only for 2014...

Pretty sure you need to talk to your dealer to get a price on any new Salsa. Same issue with Surly. It would be nice to see msrp on their web sites but I think QBP does this to send prospective customers to the dealer. Makes good business sense but I would still like to see that price on the site.

Yea, even just ball park figure. If there is an msrp kickin round, my LBS is usually right there. Seriously looking at a Ti frame, but wondering how close all the options are in price. The O'Beast looks cheapest, and I really liked the feel of the one i rode. Yet to be able to demo a Mukluk, but it looks like 2013 framesets incl. fork were going for $2100+/- . Not so hot on the 2014 Muk ti colour scheme but geo change suits me fine. Damn purdy fatties...

2014 Salsa Mukluk and Beargrease colors

I have had my mukluk for 3 years and I love the geometry. Just perfect for my riding style. Most of my other bikes are collecting dust unless friends take tag along for a spin. I have been lusting for building up a light Mukluk Ti for non snow use for quite a while and I was hoping to have one ready in the spring of 2014, there is however NO WAY I am paying that kind of money for something so ugly. Why would they have to destroy a perfectly beautiful raw looking frame like that. Mark my words. Most of those 2014 Ti Mukluk frames will be on sale at a major discount next autumn. Apologies for the rant. Just very disappointed.

Any comments about the difference in riding feel between a Mukluk and the O'beast would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing. I came off the Pugsley to a 2012 Mukluk and found the geometry and riding of the Mukluk far superior (for me) to that of the Pugsley. I decided to upgrade it to a 2014 model, to get the advantage of the Alternator dropouts and the option to use 29+ wheels in the summer.

The black version is quite good looking.

After some customisation (the rims will be drilled out later):

I also agree the the color choice for the Ti Mukluk is a very strange one. It is certainly not in my style.

I'd love to know what 2014 Mukluk 2 owners think of the color. I've short listed it as my new fatty but I'm just not sure about that gold (vain I know).

tudor I too don't like the gold so much either I'm wishing Salsa would have had that color for the Muk3 and the red or black option for the Muk2 Or it would have been nice if we had the option to chose any of three colors within the two build specs like fatbike is offering in the 907.

There are other things about the Muk2 that make it stand out. I like that I can build up another rear wheel and change the rear alternators to the 12mm thru axle and put a carbon fork with a 15mm thru axle on it and make it racy and also be able to use a rear rack for a shotgun or bow and whatever else I want and the customer services at Salsa is #1!

Tudor... if you are not a fan of the Muk 2 color, check around and see if you can find a Muk 3 frame/fork... and build the bike from the ground up. Yes, it may be a bit more work, but you can build it with your exact specs in mind.
I bought a complete build Muk 2 a few years ago (black ano w/red graphics). Since then I have replaced every component on the bike except the cranks. I wish I would have just bought the frame and fork and built it the way I wanted it.
Last month I found a brand-new 2013 grape ape frame and fork for a great deal. Mike @ Lacmine29 built me a set of Grape Ape Rolling Daryls... it's an amazing color combo. All-in, it will have much better components than a Muk 2 complete build, and I will be under $2k.

Feel you on the color issue. I was very hesitant to order this bike, did it site unseen, as the color in the pics looked awful. pulled the trigger thinking I would just get a paint job, and was surprised that it looks much better in person. There is some subtly to the paint job that isn't captured well in pictures. Did end up getting an orange jacket though... so maybe it has effected me

Isn't the mukluk 2 more orange and the 3 gold. I saw the orange today with matching rims and it looked great thinking of jumping ship from the wait on the fatboy.

It's very orange-gold and not as much yellow-gold.

The 3 colors are black or red.
