170mm Rear Wheel Build, Muk 2 or Hope FatSno hub?

I'm getting ready to have a Marge Lite rear wheel built up for my fat bike build. Is the Hope FatSno hub worth the price difference over the Muk 2 hub?
After having to buy a 170mm skewer separate for the Hope, it's looking like about $100 difference.

Unless I am wrong, I think they both have the same engagement. Anyone spent time on both?

I have both. Both work fine. The Hope is much lighter. And louder, if you care about that.
I don't notice a big difference in engagement. You can get the Hope for $225 online. Hope also makes 170mm skewers now, but I haven't tried 'em.

I have the Hope 170mm rear hub (not actually the Fatsno according to the Hope Website).

I had some issues with the Alum. fh body, and Hope gladley sent me a SS one.

I like Hope some much I am going to try their M4 and X2 brakes....on a bike I won't be throwing over rocks, floating down rivers, and taking out in sub-zero temps.

They are too nice for such behavior.

Seen that, Clown Shoe is way to big for what I'm after though.

Going 1 by X makes it easier to run fatty rims. They worked just fine with my 907 frame.

No experience with the Hope but I have the Mukluk 2's and the engagement is terrible. I can't imagine the Hope being as bad.

Hope is 24pts, almost positive Salsa is 24 pts also. Hadley and the Paul/I9 hubs are the only decent engagement hubs out there.

I plan to be either SS or 1x. However this will be used for trail riding rocky/rooty terrain, so that wide of a rim would be getting lot of rim hits.

I've had two Muk 2 hubs and one had bad engagement and one was great. I took them apart to put some lighter freehub grease in and the one with bad engagement had one pf yje pawls installed wrong, you might want to investigate a little.

170mm Rear Wheel Build, Muk 2 or Hope FatSno hub?

I have a muk2 hub on my 907. I will replace it with a hope. I already replaced a free hub body and my friend changed two plus a hub. We are both Clydes though.

I have both hubs, and there is no comparison. The Hope engages much faster than the Salsa- $100 is not a lot for the return on quality. If it were $200 or more, then it would be a more difficult decision.

Geist262- Thanks for that info, I'm at my lightest weight in years at 190. So this does help with the decision.

deuxdiesel- Also helpful info, think you guys have talked me into the Hope now.

Your welcome. Also, someone mentioned that Salsa's hub doesn't engage all that well. Very true. I suspect I will be on a new hub by winter. The other day I was out and I heard a crack sound come from the rear. The pawls were probably between engagement points.
