Upgrade my daughter's 2009 Kona Fire Mountain

Looking to surprise my daughter by upgrading the factory Dart 1 forks from her 2009 Kona Fire Mountain. She notices the front end is too heavy and its difficult to lift over little ruts and stuff.

I saw some Manitous on sale from CRC. Are they any good?

They seem light and considerably cheaper than their Rock Shox equivalents.

    Manitou R7 MRD Forks 2013
    Manitou Marvel Comp Forks - QR - 9mm - 1 1-8 2013

She has stock rims, so I think I need to keep with the 9mm QR option.

not super familiar with that exact fork, but after exhaustive research on AM forum I got a Manitou Minute Pro, and that thing is very very nice. It took a little riding to break it in but works fine and as i understand they are totally tuneable which is appealing to me. good luck. I got my daughter a Kona 4 26 and its really super nice, just with the travel is a little large for her right now she's still on her HT for now.
