Trail Gator/Trail-a-bike on small frame 29er?

Hello - I've been stalking the forums for awhile and now have a question. I have a 41" tall 5 year old who has yet to get off training wheels. My 12 year old is now riding with me quite a bit and the 5 year old wants to come along... but obviously can't really - and she's too big for a child seat. I like the idea of the Trail Gator and I think I can resolve any of the "looseness" issues people have complained about.

My potential problem is this: I'm 5'4" with a 14.5" Trek 29er and my 12 year old is 5'3" with a 15" DB 27.5". If I get a trail gator for the 5 year old, we're going to have to attach it to the top of the seat post (see pics) on either bike (Daughter's seatpost could be raised an inch or so). Is that going to be a problem? I fear that I'll just end up with a bent seat post.

BTW, I'm leaning Trail Gator because of being able to disconnect and let her ride herself... but I'm not opposed to a trail-a-bike of some sort.

Have you contacted the company to ask them?

Yes. No response yet and I thought I'd ask around for those who might have experience with them.

No experience with trail gator but we've been running 2 trail-a-bikes (ones Adams and one trek) for a couple years on my antique Gary fisher and my wife's Trek Lush 29er (18.5 I believe...) with no problems. The only issue with the 29er is that at the transition to very steep inclines the bar will bottom out on the rear tire so you just have to be aware of that if you are on trails (ours are almost entirely run in town and on rail trails...)
